Sweet potatoes are great!
I don't mean buried in marshmallows and baked until sticky and messy.
I'm talking sweet potato fries. Roasted Sweet potatoes and bacon. Cubed and roasted sweet potatoes with Mexican spices as a base for a taco salad, in lieu of rice and or beans.

I’m in for the sweet potato fries. We make sweet potato steak fries by cutting them length wise, throw them in a bowl with olive oil, a little rosemary and some salt and pepper. 425 oven on a cookie sheet, turn them a couple of times. Good stuff.

I just want them with lots of butter.

Nope. If I want potatoes I damn well don't want them to be sweet.
There's not a single recipe that can't be improved by replacing sweet potatos or yams with real potatoes.

Marshmallows on sweet potatoes is disgusting.
I've never met a potato I didn't like.
Posting in this thread because I don't want to have to fight someone over their preference in tubers. I am surprised by the passion of some folks in their strong opinions on the matter.
Peace and love on Thanksgiving to all.
So many sweet potato varieties
Made a pie for Thanksgiving using Beauregards. Other than slightly overbaking it, it was delicious. Recipe called for a tablespoon of orange zest which really added a nice touch to the flavor.
We often use Garnets when cooking. Less sweet and a nice addition to grilled fish.

Marshmallows on anything, especially a stick in a fire, are disgusting.
Not a fan of this "sweet" potato
I'm not a huge fan of regular potatoes, but sweet potato fries are yummy.
They good. The only thing that sucks about them is the skin isn't all that edible.

I do not believe this line of reasoning is applicable to sweet potato pie.
I generally don't like sweet potatoes (especially with marshmallows, yuk!), but - we kind of have to have them at Thanksgiving, and my wife adds a secret ingredient that actually makes them very tasty - 2 shots of bourbon along with the brown sugar. That's in the sweet potatoes, not in a glass alongside, although bourbon on the side pretty much makes anything better.

At the dinner table and playing FPSs. I do not suggest using bourbon to make one's welding skill better.
