That reminds me of one of the times I spent (several) hours in the hospital with my wife. I had been up for something like 30 hours to start and hadn't eaten in quite a while. I took a quick trip to the cafeteria and it was off hours (even for a hospital) and ordered a multi-grain bagel, threw some peanut butter and honey on it and it lasted me quite a while. Easy, quick and cheap.

Grits with egg and cheese is good - also try grape nuts, plus you'll poop within an hour or two afterwards. Nice reward, actually.

I just got off 12 hr nights but I napped this time. I sympathize.

I eat the PB+H on multigrain (the coarser the better) almost every day, whether for breakfast, lunch, or snack.

If it is have something along with it like oats.

Depending on the fruit, it could be a satisfactory source of carbs in that breakfast. As long as you've got a lean cut of steak tips, that's a solid all around meal.

I eat two eggs for breakfast with a glass of milk and a cup of coffee. Sometimes fried, sometimes scrambled, always with a little cheese. I need protein to make it to lunch, which is usually some kind of salady thing, occasionally with more protein, like tuna. I'll snack on fruit or yogurt between lunch and dinner, and after dinner, 1200-2000 calories worth of beer/booze.

Breakfast for me was six eggs, some taters and a pile of scrapple.

Eating what most people say is healthy means I'm hungry again in an hour or so, and I prefer being not hungry.

sunday night, hard-boil and shell 18 eggs, and fry a pound of bacon. i usually eat three eggs during the shellling process.

into ziploc bags go three shelled hard-boiled eggs, three strips of bacon, and three slabs of cheddar cheese about 1 oz each.

BAM! breakfasts for teh week.

7 am: eat one egg, one strip of bacon, one slice of cheese.

9 am: repeat 7 am.

11 am: repeat 9 am.

or if i know i won't be able to spread out all that delicious breakfasty goodness over the course of the morning, i'll scarf it all down at once. mmm.

Steel cut oats for me during the week at 6am. PB&J sandwich at 9am break.

I eat 1/4cup of oats. Soak them in 1/4 cup of water in the fridge overnight. Add another 1/4 cup in the morning and they cook in a low power microwave in about 4 minutes.

I don't expect any reasonable portion of food to keep me from getting hungry for more than a few hours at best.

I guess if you leave off the Corona it would be a light breakfast.

I typically do 2-4 slices of toast (small slices) of 100% whole wheat bread, one large egg, and a glass of non-concentrate (read, the real stuff) OJ. That gets me carbs to get me going, protein for lasting power, and fruit for whatever fruit does for ya.

Sometimes (if I'm rich and feeling spendy) add in a slice of back bacon (not the disgusting greasy stuff, the good stuff).

Turkey bacon and sausage do have an advantage of being lower in fat and cholesterol, but be aware that trade off usually come in higher sodium content. usually at least %10 more sodium.

Let's back up.

Having eggs with yolks, bacon (or sausage) and toast is perfectly healthy for breakfast IF you're not eating fatty crap for lunch and dinner.

Your body requires a certain amount of fat every day, and it doesn't care if you eat it all at breakfast or if you spread it out for four meals during the course of the day.

Staying full is about protein, fats, and fiber. Grains, with the major exception of steel cut oatz (ok and some of your more exotic grains: farro, quiona) aren't going to cut it.

Quick breakfast for alpha males:
Mix a little MCT oil (coconut oil) into a glop of oatz.
Pour some egg whites into a bowl, throw it in the microwave. When there's about 1:30 left on the eggs, throw the oatz and MCT in there.
Doctor up eggs and oatz to taste: diced bacon, ham, chicken, salsa, Tabasco, whatever you want, brother.

Hork that E36 M3 down real fast with a milk-based protein shake if you're after gainz. Women will swoon, and your pear-shaped, mouth breathing boss will bow before your domination.

Also good if you're not trying to lose weight: butter made from real nuts (almond, cashew, macadamia).

Waffle House All-Star breakfast: 2 eggs, bacon, toast, grits, and a waffle. Wash it down with coffee. I don't have to eat for hours.

Yeah, I almost never do that. I eat cereal--the healthy kind--at least 5 days a week. I just bought some steel-cut oats. That's definitely a different sort of oatmeal.

What do you mean by cereal? I eat a moderate size bowl of müsli around 9:30~10:30 and I can keep going until 4:00 or 5:00 on it (go for the kind with lots of dried fruits in it, or "Swiss/Alpine style" which has more nuts.) Probably been 85% of my breakfasts over the last decade. Corn flakes or cheerios type stuff doesn't cut it.

If there's something healthier than a bowl of oats, wheat, nuts, fruit & a dash of milk (soy in my case, but I switched from 1.5% cow's milk fairly recently), I have yet to imagine what it is.

I don't always eat at Waffle House, but when I do....

berkeley. The All-Star is impossible to resist. I KNOW that's enough food to last me an entire week. I KNOW I will hate myself afterward. But the cheap berkeley in me can't pay more for LESS food. It is the best value. Hot ticket: Your buddy gets the same thing. One of you gets the waffle. One gets the biscuit and gravy. Split 'em when they come to the table. It's the ultimate spread.

I throw whatever fruit is laying around the house in the blender with some ice and yogurt.

Sometimes some oatmeal or peanut butter.. and more often than not a some whey protein powder. Maybe even some oatmeal.. Wheat germ.. flax seed... whatever....

Sometimes a bit of fruit juice is needed to get it all flowing around..

You can even sneak in some carrots, spinach.. Whatever..

Or if I have already hit the road... I grab one of these from Quick trip.

Even at 6'5" 225 lbs.. it is easy to forget about lunch until I am really hungry at 3pm..

Thanks for the suggestions all. Just to clarify a few things, I'm not actively trying to gain or lose weight, but I could stand to lose 15-20 lbs. Since last November or so I've been actively trying to eat less animal products. I'm certainly not vegetarian or vegan, but I don't really eat much meat and have been eating less dairy and eggs the last six months. I generally try to eat quick and healthy breakfasts during the week, and go nuts with breakfast on the weekends. I thought that might help narrow down what I'm looking for. There's definitely some things in this thread that will be tried very soon. Thanks all!

Plus eleventy billion. Same goes for turkey burgers, turkey hot dogs, in short anything other than turkey on the platter or sliced smoked turkey. Don't put a mask on the damn stuff.

While we are at it, do NOT put anything low fat or sugar free in my fridge and expect me to eat/drink it for it WILL find its way to the garbage disposal forthwith.

EDIT: I may have to turn in my man card for this, but damn I like Nutella.
