Ok, I owned a miata for a few years and loved it. My kids are telling me to either get another miata or another Jeep. Man, miatas are soo cheap I don't know if I can NOT buy one. I mean, you can get a car that fun for under $2,000!!!
Here's the issue. I have 5 cars and my wife is none-too happy about that. I also don't have the time or financial means for a fleet of cars anymore (the GLH and mini are going to have to go soon). I if I pick up a miata my wife will make me sleep in it, after she makes an anotomically correct voodoo doll of me
So, tell me how terrible miata's are and that I would be terribly unhappy.
Is there a 12-step program for us?
Miata anonymous? Doubtful. I'll save you some time. STFU and buy it.

Terribly unhappy with the Miata or terribly unhappy as an anotomically correct voodoo doll?
Just tell her their an "advance" on the sale of the GLH and Mini...
EDIT: One other option is to just tell her that "it's for the kids to enjoy too"
Wait, you're getting rid of two cars and can't backslide by one tiny little Miata?
Can't your kids work some sort of heartstring-tugging on your wife? Maybe you can help them get you one for Christmas?
Just park it behind one of the other cars. They're tiny, it might be a while before she spots it
I've slept in a Miata. They are definitely not worth that.
Where the heck are you finding Miatas for sale under $2k that are not missing most of their parts?

I have tried to sleep in a Miata, it was a long night.

Probably easier to sleep ON one than IN one.

Yes, it definitely would be. Miatas + no money for hotels and no camping gear = E36 M3ty road trip.

Ok, I left out a little part of the story.
My wife has been getting on me about downsizing from 4 cars to three (selling the GLH and mini to replace them with something else, or just sell one of them). I've resisted because I LOVE the GLH. Well, I told her I was going to sell the two cars to get something else, and I was driving to VA to bring it home already. She was a little irritated.
So, my efforts to downsize from 4 to 3 took me to 5. I can't even explain that using my Detroit Public School math...

I can explain it pretty easily in just two statements, six words:
- Good Job
- We're Proud of You
Is it possible for you to buy a good condition one for like 4k at the start of the autoX season then sell it at the end for about the same price? You get a lot of fun for relatively little, especially since you will really only need to change the oil and thats it, and in the end you dont have another car?
So, you came to the GRM forums to be talked out of buying a Miata, and now you have a Miata?
How'd that happen?
Why in the world would you replace an original Mini with an Miata?

"Mini" or "MINI"? If the former...
...what the hell am I saying... I'm trying to down-size as well...
...unless you want an E30 in trade...

His profile says Austin Mini 1000.

We have mailed out the emergency "doghouse" GRM'er kit. Includes items like
-latest copy of GRM
-heated blanket for that cold, lonely couch
-a GRM t-shirt (because your laundry ain't gettin done for a while)
-a flyin' miata catalog
Hopefully these things will sustain you for the next little bit.
On top of that, since you now have 5 cars, there really isn't any point in getting rid of the other two. Might as well keep em.

You guys crack me up. I really want a miata but know I shouldn't buy one right now.
I'm getting rid of the mini (not MINI or Mini) because when I bought it we had two kids. It was our family fun, cruise-in car. Now with three kids I don't even care to drive it because someone has to stay home. That's not cool.
I did agree to sell the GLH and mini, so expect to see these cars pop up here (GLH in the $200X classifieds section, mini in the magazine calssifieds) in the next few months. I've replaced them with a car that should be faster than the GLH and handle better than the mini....

So, what are you bringing home from VA? Is that a Miata.
I see that the mini gets little use because one has to stay home. How is it that a Miata will see any use when three have to stay home?

I don't think I have any pics posted anywhere, but think of the one from the Italian Job, red and white, 4 lights accross the grill.
And the car is already home from VA, it's going to be my 2013 challenge car I hope. For now I'm keeping it under my hat....
