I have to admit don't change the oil in my work truck. The Jiffy Jerks do it. Mostly because it needs changing at least once a month and I really don't care what oil they put in it. That and I hate changing oil. The tow beasts the RX-7 and the Abomination I change but they only need it twice a year. I do them all on the same day.
A SBC shouldn't have any problem with synthetic, but I wouldn't put it in a high mileage one unless it's been running it from new. It's libel to start leaking like a sieve as the synthetic cleans all the crap out from around the seals and gaskets. BTDT

Why does a GRM Superdork not change his own oil? You actually stopped back at another quick lube place to get them to just add more oil for you? I am confused.
Two reasons - one, I didn't particularly fancy the choice between wallowing either in the frozen lake that is the concrete slab in front of our garage (and no, the truck doesn't really fit the garage) or the half-frozen mud pit that is our driveway. Second, it's my get-to-work beater truck and I'd rather spend my very limited spare time on my various classic bikes, the Corvette and all of the other stuff I never seem to get around to.
Third, I don't have all the tools yet as I seem to have left more of them in the UK with a friend that I care to remember. I guess another trip to HF beckons...

This one's been run mostly on Mobil 1 according to the PO. It's not the first time I've run synthetic in there and it doesn't seem to start leaking massively...
