I have to admit... this gives me evil thoughts if I happen to come across a GT6 with a decent tub, but smashed up bonnet...

I had to chuckle at the "bark and all" part but that is in no way limited to the south. There is a guy driving around here (PA) with huge wooden railroad ties at each end of an old Toyota pu lifted to the point where the driveshafts are at 45˚ to the chassis.
