1993 Nissan Maxima GXE. I decided, after two Saturns, that I wanted a big highway cruiser with something that was missing in previous cars...torque. Here's a hint: the only thing true in "4DSC" is the 4D part. After new tires, a new battery, a transmission flush, spark plugs, air fliter, fuel pump, fixing the license plate lights, two distributors, a cooling system flush and thermostat (which, by the way, is impossible to remove without dropping the engine five inches), it still had inoperative cruise control, no power locks, no speedo, had less than 30% of it's clearcoat, overheated on the highway (but not in stop-and-go traffic.....???) and got maybe 21 MPG on the highway. It had decent power, when it wasn't misfiring or running richer than a tractor (see distributors), the trans slipped like crazy, it understeered like the wheels weren't even turning, and it really made me miss having three pedals. Five months after buying it, it was donated to the fire company, where they hopefully broke the glass out, cut the doors and roof off, and set it ablaze. Good berkeleying riddance.

1986 Mercedes 190e 2.3-16v. Dogleg gearbox, Upgraded suspension and brakes, gutted interior, some power upgrades.

It just felt heavy, sluggish and slow. I much preferred my E30 325is

It's not grassroots, but the Lamborghini Countach. It's not the car the poster on your wall as a kid in the 80s would have you believe.

85 Olds cutlass supreme: I dont hate them all, just the one i had. Bucket seats with the center consol shift. White with red interior...sounds great. The bad, bought it for $400, had a crappy 307, barely ran, rot everywhere, mold under headliner...the list continues. Basicaly a project car that i didnt have time or money for. Sold it for $200 about 2 weeks after buying it to a guy that turned it into a hobby stock circle track car.

OK, drop the other shoe and tell us the story.

I know I'd love to hear it, and I'm sure others would as well.

I'm afraid my story isin't that exciting. I was all keen to sit in one, got the chance a few years ago and, well, it was the 1980s in there. Never got to ride / drive one or anything. From talking to people / various top gear reviews, they're not really that great to drive either.

I still want one. A lot of the 80s cars appeal to me. I'll reserve final judgement until the day I hopefully get to drive one....or at least ride shotgun.
