I'm calling it right now, HD will be out of business in ten years. Their website is pathetic.

1. It crashes constantly on all of my devices, desktop computer included. HD, its 2018!!! if you can't hire someone who can make a web page load....

2. Don't even get me started on sorting/finding stuff. Yes, HD, when I am looking at ryobi batteries the other things I am likely interested in are rigid shop vacs...

3. I want to buy Ryobi tools. Their website wont sell direct to me, instead I get pushed to HD. If I go to the store directly, I see prices that are often HUNDREDS higher than the online advertised price. This is because in the store they tend NOT to stock the 'tool only' and instead are selling you the tool with $100 batteries and chargers that you already have.

4. Home depot, where the berk is the "I WANT TO BUY THIS" button? I see store availability (which no ryobi tool I want is ever in stock), and ship to my jobsite for only $35 (but we can't do that until it is back in stock in the store). I also see "add to cart to see the coupon discount" but I dont see "ADD TO CART" anywhere. So, are you guys looking to sell stuff? or no?

Ho-le-crap. Ryobi needs to drop HD-exclusivity like they are hot. And probably many other great brands too.

Add to cart button is large and on the bottom of the screen for me...

Not a chance.

Ryobi needs Home Depot MUCH more than Home Depot needs Ryobi.

Ryobi made THE CRAPPIEST tools of all before their association with HD. National big box store exposure is what forced them to step up.

HD’s website may be crap, but their parking lot is always full. I don’t think they need online.

As long as consumers are happy pushing shopping carts through air conditioning to buy building materials, HD and Lowes will do just fine, and old school building supply houses will continue to close.

I've found Lowe's website to be even worse.

Oh, and my experience is the opposite. I am usually looking for the kits that include batteries, and the stores I am in only stock the naked versions.

Inventories vary by locality. Local managers stock shelves according to what sells locally, not according to what corporate says.

I've been shouting about the crappy search, sorting and filtering capabilities in Amazon.com for at least a decade and a half. Hasn't kept them from being #1.

Finally got two things in my cart and now cannot checkout due to error: not everything in your cart is in stock at the store selected.

But both things say "In stock today at your store: homewood".

Can I not buy it and just wait till they get it back in stock? There also doesn't seem to be an option to even pay for shipping to me, since I cannot buy it if the item is not in stock at a store within 100 miles of my zip.

Well, I did just turn 31, and it is raining today.

But seriously, the HD website crashes on every other click for me. That is not an exaggeration.

That is really unfortunate!

I find their site no worse than anybody else's, including Amazon. Never actually had a problem using it on any (at least non-Apple) platform either.

Part A may be true, but I think i've talked to you about a tool selling idea before, and I think ryobi would be a good candidate for the pilot (except for the seemingly exclusive contract with HD).

Part B sounds like Sears, JC Penny, Cabela's, etc.

My habit is to go to Menards because it is right next to HD here and it is cheaper, and now I know where to find stuff in the store so it's a lot quicker. Only reason I would go to HD is because I found something online or I want a new Ryobi tool.

In reply to jstein77 :

Maybe I just only ever happen to click on stuff that isn't in (or is in this 'limited stock') stock?

meh, oh well. A seemingly good deal caught my eye where I could end up getting 4 lithium ion (2 3ah and 2 2ah) batteries and one charger for $99. But I don't really need them and HD doesn't really need the money so I'm just giving up for today. Probably won't take the hour out of my evening to try running out to the store either.

Change your zip code search.

The results vary by Location.

I use the mobile site when I am in the store to find out which aisle/bay the item I need is in. Faster and easier than looking for an orange apron.

I actually like their site a lot. Mostly due to the fact that they give a store map with bin numbers and all that jazz. Where I used to wander aimlessly, I can now walk in and find exactly what I need.

At some point, taking your phone up to the service counter and say "I want this, at this price and have the money in this hand" does a lot of good.

Strange, I use the HD and Lowes sites fairly often and have no issues with either of them except the HD always tries to change my local store to one that is not the closest to me unless I was a bird.

You need to try sears web site.  It will make you appreciate HDs.

I guess it is encouraging to hear that the crashing thing may only be me, (but seriously it does it to me on my android phone, my windows laptop, and my wife's iphone), and that it just might be that my local home depot never stocks the stuff I want.

I switched from craftsman c3 to ryobi for many of the same issues, website can't sell me what I want, store tries to 'bait-and-switch' into the packaged products, have to go to store myself to really see if something is in stock or not, etc.

At least HD is only 10ish minutes away rather than the closest sears (was, not sure if still is) at 30 or so.

I'm going to have to start buying Harbor Freight stuff just because the website works...

I've honestly never had the Home Depot web site crash on me, but it's pretty rare for me to be actually buying stuff on the web site. Mostly I use it to find out where in the store an item is. I've probably bought using the web site only 3 times or so. Almost always on my desktop running Firefox.

What browser are you using? You might try Firefox on any of your devices, if you aren't already. It can handle errors a lot more gracefully than, say, Safari, I know for sure. GRM threads with lots of pictures will crash Safari on my phone but not at all in Firefox on my phone.
