I found a new line to incorporate into one of my rallycross videos.

Also I SWAG-extrapolated a tune on a car and we turned the boost up six pounds and fuel stayed happy and it never once knocked and the thing pulls smooth and clean without me having to touch anything, just watch the pretty numbers in C-Com. I guess experience really does pay off! Also 20psi in a 4.3l six feels crazy, expecially when it is a smooth and quiet 20psi.

And then today I learned that I'm going to be tuning a LS3-engined Solstice. A breathed on LS3, probably 500+hp. Should be entertaining.

14 year old son went to his first kart race by himself. (i.e. me not there wrenching). Just got a text from him that he's changed the caster, camber and toe on the front (with the lasers). Lowered the rear ride height (better grip). Changed axle. Cleaned and re-jetted the carb. Bolted the motor on. Changed the rear gear. And reset the MyChron (GPS enabled lap/rpm/temp computer). All by himself, except for two hand work like holding the brake as he pulled the axle. I'll still be sweating at work as practice goes on tomorrow, but I'm a very proud papa today!
I'll join him tomorrow night before racing begins on Saturday, but in my mind, he's already won.

He's part of a "race team", (i.e. a bunch of dads who split pit space and tent costs), so he's not there totally alone in case anyone thought about calling CPS....

I'm off for the next 9 days. Taking a full week off and gonna go down to Florida and pick up a pick up. May even lounge around on the beach for a day all by myself and read a book. I need a vacation, too much work and kids for too long has made Allroad a jittery mess.

Got a call from a recruiter for a hosptial gig - would pretty much double my income. Round 1 interview complete - moving on to round 2. Enjoying the thought of the possibilities.

Mine had a computer at 3 and a cell phone at 4.......

I get frustrated with the constant texting until the wife reminds me of the hours we spent on a phone and we were only talking to one person. He texts to at least 5-6 at once.

And he called me while I was heading up here and said he didn't need me. P1 in final (timed) practice of 13 drivers.

Got bumped off steady midnight shift in mid-January. Been rotating daylight/ afternoon since, PITA. Back on steady midnight next week until September or maybe rest of the year. I get more work done at home after mids than any other shift. If this rotating E36 M3 kept goin' I'd walk sooner rather than later, still gonna tho.

Win.

Steady is good.

Drove the Scoob ('97 Impreza) 4 years ago today after it had spent 2 years in the garage waiting an engine transplant. Forgetting that it is, once again, in the garage and just remembering the excitement of that first drive after looking at it sad and stationary for so long.

Got a phone call from Team O'Neil offering me a part-time instructor position. After an interview and a full day of testing I'm chuffed to make the cut! Great way to spend weekends between races.

Discovered today that the stock seat sliders in a 98 Integra are just about ideal for mounting a race seat. Double latch, designed strong enough for the factory seat belt mount, flat, straight, level. All very good things.
