Spending first night in new townhouse tonight. Pretty psyched about that. Considering how incompetent the sellers ended up being, I'm a little surprised I'm in here at all.

Awesome. I spent 15 years in that business. Made me who I am today. Also tore up my knees. It is great, hard work that hones a lot of skills.
Production schedules can be a harsh bitch though. I was wrecked by the constant 12 hour days. You will become a master at "the art of the bodge". In maintenance there is nothing more permanent than a temporary fix so you learn to make those quick "get 'em back up running" solutions as good as possible.
In reply to Jumper K. Balls:
Sounds like my workplace, run 'er in the ground, bandaids, bandaids, bandaids.
I knew the stuff I ordered from McMaster Carr was supposed to be here today, but when brown came, I also found that the other stuff I ordered from a place in FL that I actually had to call and order over the phone because their website doesn't have a shopping cart came as well. Now I am all ready for a weekend project of replacing the bunk hardware on the boat lift.
Also, I am happy because I just ate a great steak off the grill and it was super yummy.
Boss calls me in to talk about work. Since I'm doing infiltrometer tests self sufficiently, he feels I should be paid more. $50 extra on top of my hourly wages for each test. Plus, back pay for all the tests I've conducted these past 3 months. WOOT! Unsolicited bonus!
Jackleg in traffic behind me, queued in the left turn lane, decided to cut the corner through the bank parking lot. First, he gets blocked by someone doing the same thing in the opposite direction, then gets caught in a dead end lane. We get a green, so he has to wait for all the people doing the right thing. In the end, he moves back one place, and is now following the car behind me.
Now I know I shouldn't care, but I'm not above a little schadenfreude.
This whole week has been great, and it just keeps getting better. Settled my long standing injury case, and today I was offered a new position with a great company. Lot's of growth potential.
Yay!
I was just offered a job and accepted. Only working full time security for two more weeks. More to post later.
Hoping to get out to a salvage yard Saturday to find some floor pieces I need for the Elky. To do this, I'll need to use my 18V Bosch cordless angle grinder/cutoff wheel. One problem: Though I initially had two batteries for it (and my impact gun & shop radio), I have long only been able to find one. Guess I have to break down and pick up more. $100 for one, or $150 for two from Amazon? Easy choice- two it is, with free 2-day shipping with Prime.
Ordered a bit before noon- got a shipping notice a few hours later. And as I had hoped, thanks to being within a stone's throw of a major distro center, they're scheduled to be delivered tomorrow so I'll have THREE batteries to use for the trip to the junkyard.
Also just checked the local auto auction listings for tonight- and may run out there and see if I can snag a late-80's LeBaron convertible really cheap as a late summer/fall convertible and winter beater.
I'm so happy, after my raise this year, money is no longer an issue. I outright own a diesel pickup, my rally STi, a fun cruising toy, and have the space to build the spare WRX shell. All outstanding loans and bills are rapidly dropping, and affording the new condo is easy peasy as nothing changes compared to what I've been paying in rent.
Life is good Except for the berkeleying twee's

Hanging out in Ferguson feeling like old times surrounded by four large breed dogs in case it isn't.
Time to eat.

Tha twee is where you hide from tha puddy tat.
If you have to get stuck working on a Saturday night there are worse ways to spend your dinner break than people watching in Central Park and eating a waffle.
