good luck … time for something good to happen
So after the suburban had a dead battery, a blown brake line and a sheared off brake bleeder. Today I stopped off at the auto parts place and got my free replacement battery (no questions asked), new lineset, and a new caliper assembly. Total price out the door: $32.
Got it all home and installed in about an hour. That didn't suck nearly as much as it could have.
Seriously, $19.95 for a caliper? That's yard sale cheap!!
Hmm, gotta share this one cause I actually made a cashier curse.
I'm a locksmith and went to the local grocery store this evening for dinner. I'm wearing the t-shirt I got from locksmith school and an employee comes up to me asking about it. He's just this afternoon locked himself out of his apartment and if I could please please help him out he'll hook me up with free steak. Well, upshot is dinner tonight will be sirloin, red potatoes, red cabbage, and red wine.
The cashier saw "free" written on the package and blurted "what the hell....oops".
Back to the grill now
I updated and reorganized my resume over the weekend and sent it out today to the local Caffeine and Octane event organizers, who decided they're hiring (but it sounds like they're not entirely sure who they're looking for yet). I may not get the job, but I feel good just having applied. Part time would be a little money back in my pocket to help pay for engine work.
I should have posted this yesterday when I got it all up and going and I was in a damn good mood.
I published my first novel yesterday! Some of the Amazon things take a day or two to link up, like linking the Kindle and paper editions together in their listings and what-not, but it's up! It's done! I am published! And I sold a few copies, so I have now officially made money from my writing.
Today I'm in kind of a crappy mood. But I am officially an author now, instead of being a writer, which I was all this time until I sold a book.
Took SWMBO out on track for the first time ever yesterday and now she wants to start HPDEs and eventually race. I'm pretty excited.
So yeah the lecherous old man that we bought our house from has risen from the grave again. Somehow I am now getting adult magazines delivered in his name for free to my house. Just started happening out of the blue. Never actually seen a playboy in real life.
The internet called and it wants its porn back. My wife is surprisingly amused.

Dude congrats!
Haha that's funny. The guys who previously owned my home were married. About a year after moving in I began receiving a similar publication targeted toward the gay community. Turns out they had been granted a free year if subscription due to being a previous customer. One... Full..year.
It was fun at first, I'd drop them off at my buddies apartment and hide them in hopes a lady visitor would find them. At this point though, the joke has faded and I hope we are nearing the end of the subscription.

So, Lugnut, where is the link to the Amazon page selling your book? I'm betting if you post it here, you will get some additional sales. Oh yeah, and congrats on the accomplishment!

Still not counting on much though. Really need to get outta my current job before I go berkeleying nuts. Out of nowhere this morning the Facility Manager calls from a plant I interviewed at over six months ago. The position is open, it's unadvertised, am I interested? Oh, hell yes. This was one of my dream jobs, pristine facility, excellent pay for my trades, good commute and it's midnight shift... my fav. Interview next week. I must be livin' right or the Gods of Labor are having mercy on me for the last four years of eating E36 M3 at my current job. Boo-yah.
and.... I got the job!!
2-4 weeks for background checks... it's da governmink. Better pay, sick days and bennies. Pristine facility instead of that E36 M3hole I'm at now. I was making damn good money at my current job on top of my pension, I'll make crazy money now for a skilled trades guy.
Lessee, where do I start... Coyote, Denali, R/T, track toy...??

So I counted it took till page 48 till there were tits. The thing was literately 3% Tit's, 90% ad's for cheap watches and 7 fluff.
Found a set of tires that list for over $200 each. Got the pair for $90.00. Used but with 12/32 (new is 13/32).
God bless the internet.
I can get 100% quality tits for zero cash outlay.
It's amazing that print media has survived this long.

I didn't wanna canoe the board. I was just super excited. But I can post it if it isn't inappropriate or opportunistic. Then again, I was just looking up ways to promote it and apparently I gotta whore it out a little. I'm not entirely comfortable doing that.
Here it is, though. It's a fantasy adventure novel. I took some mythology that, lately, has been directed solely at children, and made a proper adult fantasy book out of it.
I'm not sure why the hard copy and kindle versions aren't linked yet.
If that is your real name--Did you ever listen to Pat and Ron doing the Cubs Radio broadcast? They always mentioned it anytime someone came up with two first names--George Brett, for example. Your name just reminded me of that.
And in case it might inspire anyone here, the royalties are going straight into the XKR coupe fund
But it is also a pretty good book!
Replaced the cracked/fritzed screen on the laptop today. $60 instead of $500 and no need to transfer all of our files. Not really a huge deal, except my DYI projects are usually a horrendous freakin' disaster, and this one went off with only a few hitches. Managed to pick up the electronics screwdriver I needed at Menards for $2.50 instead of the $65.00 quoted by Radio Shack.
Related minor gripe: All mini-screwdrivers should be magnetized. I'm not an elf. I suppose the $65.00 set was probably magnetized.
Regardless, I have briefly triumphed over technology.
