As much as I berkeleying despise snakes, they do have a purpose. Plus they're easier to shoot than moles.

Flooding the holes works very well with chipmunks, probably well with moles too.

Got any friends with cats? Treat the moles like ground hogs and put used kitty litter in the holes. Granted groundhogs have "house"holes and "toilet" holes, the smell of cat piss alone could scare them away.

Or just see if you can get a barn cat or a feral. I know I could get them in Cali from the animal rescue places if I promised to keep them outside. And they're picky about pets and pests in California.

I have a cat that comes home with something at least once a week. She is the most effective pest (and non-pest, sorry birds) killer I have ever had. And I still have moles or voles. They seem to radiate around one large pine tree. I also get a lot of Cidada, which live on tree roots, so I have a feeling the two are related. The raised tunnels are easily tramped back down, so I just do that before mowing season. Once summer starts, they are gone, retreating to the woods and away from the cat I suspect

I have my best success with a shovel, a cold drink, and a chair.

Walk all the hills down flat. Sit in the chair with a cold drink. When the mole in question starts reforming the tunnels, scoop him out with the shovel, chop him in half, and drop him back in the hole. A couple of evenings every month or two, does to keep them under control.

Terrier + cat = dead moles and mice

Shove dry ice down the hole. The Carbon dioxide is heavier then the air and it fills the whole tunnel system. Kills humanly, and the carcass just rot underground.

I do not understand this part of your post. Mole gone, happy dog. How is that not a win-win?

Didn't get all of them.

Had a lab-mix that would dig out a mole hole and lay down and wait till one appeared then snatch it up and kill it. Would kill possums too, one was almost as big as she was.
