Well, for the first time in 354,000+ miles "Big Red" wouldn't start for me the other day. I was dissapointed because I was in a hurry, and this meant that my wife had to come get me. But it was only dirty connections at the starter. Sweeeet!!

Damn American cars don't work. Just pieces of E36 M3. Its only gone 350,000 miles and it breaks down? Wow. Next time buy a Toyota.
Gotta love the easy fix. The 308,000 mile Integra started making a "death rattle" on the way home the other day. One quick swipe with a steak knife (a great tool to keep around, btw,) removed the offending A/C compressor belt, and she purrs like a sewin' machine again. Now to remove all those heavy A/C related components and pick up an extra .2 MPG!
Darn right about American trucks. My '82 Chevy van has let me down thrice in the 250,000 miles he's been.
It was always the starter. Get this: 2 of those times it was in the Post Office parking lot. In the same parking place. Swapped it out in the lot, and went on about my way.
Now when I go to the PO, I never park in that space.
Tell me about it, "The Blue Beast" wont start now, it has only been sitting for maybe 6-8 months. Damn ford 300 engines...

Funny thing is, a toyota will run 350K but will be on it's 12th body by then.
Only time my dodge never starts is if the battery's dead... sometimes it stalls if the throttle body's dirty, but that's about it.
In reply to DrBoost:
I've owned a lot of Toyotas, the only things that rust worse are Datsuns but the king has got to be FIAT. On a damp day you can hear them fizz.
My moms '87 4-runner had 375,000 on the clock but you could see outside through the sheetmetal.
Still got $2500 for it when we sold it.

as someone who did warranty engineering for a certain diesel engine company.. I'm shutting up.
glad you got a good one, most of the ones that caused me so many headachs are long gone. Which is another benefit of buying use with a good # of miles.
