So phones and e-mails don't work already?
Ok, but it seems like there are avenues aready in place.
you are lazy.
Eric
I'm not a facebook fanboi. Let's get that straight right up front.
Sure, I could make 63 freakin' phone calls to advertise my "event" that I want my friends to know about. But I don't want to spend over an hour of my life that way when I can do it in about 3 minutes or less (using facebook...or presumably other avenues). Frankly, I don't NEED to know all of my friends' email addresses because if they're on facebook, gues what, sending them a message IS THE SAME THING as sending them an email. Quite literally, a facebook message is recieved in my email inbox.
Sure, the two above mentioned systems are in place (phones and emails). However, it's a matter of catering to your audience. If the people I want to contact are on facebook, I get with the times and use facebook to connect (which is pretty damn convenient for me).
Yes...I'm lazy (or efficient...potayto, potahto), we've established that. I mean, I could go buy postcards and hand address them all...that system is in place...it would work "just as well" except for the time and money spent (something that phones also use)...and the lag time. But mail worked for invitations in the time before cell phones and email too. It's just not the best tool for the job today, given the intended audience.
So...again, I'm not trying to make you use facebook. You asked what the point was and I told you what the point is for me. I don't expect you to understand...but maybe respect that it's not useless for everyone.
I don't really have a problem if you don't like it and want to downtalk it either...I'm simply answering your questions, on the off chance you actually want answers.

Sounds like you've never been in a group of friends' conversation centered around FaceBook. It's a creepy "I don't belong here" feeling. It's happening too much lately.

I can certainly understand that. Some folks get pretty wrapped up in it (myself sometimes).
If you would just join, then you could become one of us.
One of us, one of us, one of us, one of us....(come on guys, join in the chant)
There will be daily updates from The Book of Grip.
I finally joined FB last week after swearing for years I would never join. The SCR-SCCA crowd went from using the forums to using FB so to keep up with what's going on I joined. I now have 50+ "friends" including several I don't talk to for a reason. I probably won't use it much, I really don't care if someone got crap on their hand while wiping their butt. Most of what is posted is inane useless drivel. Some people just can't get past the fact that most of the world doesn't care what is happening in their lives.
I'll join the Church, hopefully something worth reading will be on FB when I check it.
Number 86. I guess that makes me one of the kids.

That's what she said.
If I refuse to sign up for facebook can I still get unfriended?
I have to agree with Eric on this one. I will say I get the idea of facebook way more than I get tweeting...that seems totally pointless to me...facebook just seems more like a waste of time, but I can see the benefits of it - I just don't think it's for me.
im in,,, now i can tell people ive joined a church and maybe some will get off my back... im going to feed my imaginary cows now...
924, I need a harness or a brick ;)
What is sad, is I didn't understand what JB was getting at....My wife, about fell over laughing. "I need 5 more friends who play Farmvillle, to have my 50 ribbon". I then got a lesson on what's needed to build a horse stable. I've gotta get off now, she's gotta go update her chicken coup.

Wooowwww.... is that Chicken Coup 3.1?!?!?!?!?
"I guess, it's the first update, I boycotted it for a week"
now heres an idea, someone make an app like farmville, but instead of cows and chicken, make it a dirt track and trade parts to build cars... id much rather have a "request" for a set of coil overs than i would from asking someone to feed their chickens...
by the way, does any one else think that the "fertilize my fields" request is a bit weird? my high school sweetheart sent me that request, and i told her i did that like 25 years ago ALLOT, luckily she still has a sense of humor...
This is Spinout007's wife...yes I joined your church, even if my own family might disown me:) but I do need 2 people to hep with 3.2 :)

That is brilliant. Raceville...build a track, or a rally cross course. That's an app I wouldn't feel compelled to block.
And there needs to be online racing to go along with it.
well, i see that someone brought up the thought of the church again and i thought it died out for a while......
i guess i have to sigh up for face book and get something for joining and get my stuff for my buiness going on it also.
Close to 250 members as of a few minutes ago!!!
Thanks for making me an Admin John...I am truly honored!
I figured after the "Then the fight started" thread I might want to have a backup plan in case the fight ends prematurely ;)
