Oh yuck!!
I remember those suckers when I was in high school, look like ugly space ships.
In reply to Lesley:
Looks a lot cooler than what I had in high school. The other kids were rich an had rich kid cars.

Yeah, well, don't feel bad, this is how I got around in high school.
Up hill both ways in the snow? You make me LOL. Time for bed. Goodnight, Lesley.
The orthodontist I went to as a kid had their walls painted like that Pinto.
I'll represent the even-younger-than-Sperlo demographic in agreeing that I would have rocked that hard in high school.
On the days Dad wasn't using it for farm work, I drove a faded, rusty, red '80-something Chevy longbed with mariachi music on the AM radio.
I drove a red Pinto with equally fugly red interior my junior year of HS. It's only saving grace was it had the rare 4cyl C4 as a trans....

Magnificent ugly spaceships.
Really it's shocking how much less cool that thing would be without the graphics or porthole windows.

Up until a couple months ago, the office at work was painted like that Pinto.

I blame the set from "Too Close to Comfort".
In reply to ZOO:
I can't believe thats what actually came to mind. term me you stumbled upon that, not knowing the set by heart.

What? You mean poop brown, robin's egg blue, and white aren't cool???
FULL DISCLOSURE STATEMENT: All three of those occupied a spot in my parent's driveway at some point and not exclusively all at the same time. My dad is one of those weird Pinto "freaks".
Why is the stripe purple at the front and yella behind the front quarter panel?

Well that was better than the Volvo running into him.

I am sad to say that the set left an (obviously) indelible impression on my young mind. I wanted bizarre stripes in my house as a youngster and I couldn't figure out why my father wouldn't let us have them. Of course, I couldn't figure out why my father (an avowed car guy) also wouldn't take the money from the sale of the family home and buy a Porsche 911 Turbo either.
Turns out he was right on both accounts.
In reply to ZOO:
Young minds are fragile. Your father sounds like a smart man.
I haven't seen a Pinto in quite a few years. As a kid I saw one every day. My dad bought a '76 wagon new. It was a stellar example of why imports started kicking American automakers' asses in the 70's.
