If one is truly serious about getting rid of all career politicians, this one doesn't go far enought. You gotta clean out the Senate as well.
They are starting with the house - one at a time friends. I am a member. You should all read up on it, too.
The problem with aiming at career politicians is that it's ALWAYS someone else who is the problem. Your guy is ok, since you keep voting for it, but that jerk from the other state- you want him out. And I'm sure that the other state feels the same way about your jerk.
In my state, there are term limits, and I hope to abolish them, since it tends to lead to idiots who have no reason to compromise and get something done. Which leads to large budget proposals, and ineveitably a stoppage of govenment since they can't agree on a budget.
If they were actually in it for the long term, and did a good job at representing me, observation suggests that they would do a better job at getting what is required finished.
The #1 thing YOU can do about your representation is VOTE.
I'd much ratheter rely on someone who wants to be a politician for life than some moron who wants 2 terms of headlines, and follow that with a career in lobbying.
Instead of new laws, be participatory, and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE. Every election, even the minor school board ones.

I agree and disagree with Eric, as I'm torn on the issue. But there is one thing I do agree on, and that is to vote in EVERY election. In many ways, who is president matters far less than who is sitting in that House or Senate seat, be it Federal or State. They make the laws and spend the money, the President merely suggests them if he wants, and appoints Judges. His primary job is to keep the country safe however.
If more people took the time to find out what their representatives were doing and voted accordingly, then the country would be the better for it and term limits would not matter. Most people I think simply vote for names they heard of, if they vote at all.
I think right now we are seeing the need for a balance of power, which is what the framers had in mind. If any one party or philosophy has the majority, usually the power goes to their heads and bad things happen. How bad usually depends who it is what they ultimately want.

Eric,
I hear you, but did you read the link? Goooh is totally local, and focuses on people (actual people) replacing their local representation.

Nope, did not. But I still think being a career politician is not a bad thing, as long as you represent the majority of your district, whatever the post may be.
Eric
Voting out incumbents is a system I've been using for a long time, unless I know the guy in office is doing a good job. Guess that makes him/her "my" jerk.
Guys read the link, this thing is not just another political party it is seriously interesting and the selection process ensures the person elected stands by his stated ideals and platforms.
Seriously if you haven't read it don't post because it makes you look pretty dumb.
My concern is that if it really starts taking off what will the old school career politicians do to protect their hard earned extra political incomes
