At 0:51 in the video, is that guy carrying one of those fancy new assault rifles meant to replace the M16?
Son and I were driving back from racing this weekend in Dallas and noticed some slow traffic in Waco. Kinda weird (I thought), then noticed the cop car blocking the flyover next to Twin Peaks. Still didn't think too much about it until he picked his rifle up off the truck and stood there holding it.
Craziness going on in Waco, which is normally a sleepy little college town and rest stop for I-35 travelers.
Read several "reports" that gangs of motorcycles were driving up from San Antonio and Austin on Sunday.
Can't figure out if we're going to see more violence like this soon or if it's just people blowing things up in the name of sensationalism. (probably more the latter).
Not that any of it is good, but interesting to note that no restaurant employees or bystanders were hurt.

I can just hear the future ad for the Time Life book series on outlaw biker gangs...."Baddass Billy was so mean he once shot a man just for dipping his curly fries in Mayonnaise." Were these biker gangs really outlaws (prior to the shootout/stabbing/beating with a pipe event or were they more like Wild Hogs?
No cops killed, no bystanders killed (pretty sure at least)
Good shootin' tex! (there's probably no way to know how many the cops shot of course)
From what I've read, there were several biker gangs meeting there to "discuss" territory and recruitment issues. Yeah this will solve that.
Its rival gangs, dealing with a turf war as an officer from one gang passed away outside of this deal and others are trying to get more foothold.
Sounds crazy, but whats happening. It could get worse for a bit from what I hear.
the news report i read said both gangs were having a 'recruiting' event at the same time at the restaurant?
They had I-35 north blocked off all the way down here in Temple. I guess they were worried about reinforcement bikers showing up?
Crazy.
I imagine after the thugs are cleared out; Twin Peaks will see large influx of business from dentists and lawyers all dressed up in brand logo appropriate outfits and on a pilgrimage to the holy-land of badassery to get their t-shirt signed by a girl in tight shorts.
Maybe Waco will get a poker run/rally out of this!

Nah, biker gangs are real. It's the organized crime of the Western states. I realized this moving from the Chicago area to Denver. In Chicago organized crime is visible, it's always been there, and you just deal with it.
Out West the bikers gangs are the ones running drugs / prostitution / etc. "Clubs" like the Banditos, the Mongols, the Sons of Silence, and of course the Hell's Angels have been operating for years. My guess is that this "meeting" was organized so the clubs could settle turf disputes..... and someone pissed someone else off.... and all Hell broke loose.
This same sort of thing happened in the 4-corners area years ago. Except then, the bikers wouldn't allow the cops into the town until they had "cleaned up" all the evidence. Bikers tend to dole out their own punishments instead on relying on Johnny law.
Keep in mind.....these are not lawyers and accountants on shiny new Harleys. These are criminals. Look for the 1% patch on their jackets---- that's a good sign to give them a wide berth.

And they're all :gasps: TREVORS!
When you see a group of Harley riders wearing full face helmets and full leathers, with quiet mufflers and all the reflectors still in place, driving slightly under the speed limit, you have seen the dangerous ones, at least around here.
At least there was no worthwhile injury or loss of life in the Texas situation.
We have legitimate organized crime bikers here in Texas. Bandiditos are the ones I see most frequently in Houston. It's not hard to tell the difference between dentists on Harleys and the dangerous guys.
The Sargent of Arms for the Banditos in the area passed away. They had his funeral on Sat. They may have been talking turf with other gangs, but its more than talk now. That's about all I know. It is serious, and it sounds like the local police are taking it as such. They have closed MANY restaurants in town and told people to stay in from eating out.
When I lived in Denver I worked at a bar that was frequented by many members of the Sons of Silence. Most of them were good guys....as long as you didn't ask too many questions. Our bar was sort of a safe haven for them, so they treated us well. They did have some stories to tell though....
Once in a while a Bandito would stroll in. EVERY one of them I met was pure trouble....in a very serious way. Those guys would look right through you..... thankfully, they never hung around for long.
