Today in Anchorage, the land where retail goes after it died in the lower 48.
Found a re-release bottle of Crystal Pepsi and one of the last Blockbuster Videos still open. I'm gonna watch Mrs. Doubtfire and pretend the Atlanta Braves are still worth a damn.
Ah the days of Greg Maddux, John Smoltz and Chipper Jones.
wow.. two horrid things in one shot
And Tom Glavine and David Justice. The AAA Braves were still in Richmond back then, and we would see these guys come through Richmond. That Deion Sanders was really fast.
I bought a bottle of Crystal Pepsi for my son to try yesterday. He quickly understood why it didn't last.
i remember really liking crystal pepsi, maybe i shouldn't kill those memories and find a bottle?
You're going to manned to get a photo with a late model vehicle to prove tat wasn't 1993! Lol (Can't tell what those are halfway in the pic)

I need to start looking for it. I just got my hands on Ectocooler the other day.

Looks like a late '90's early '00's Grand Cherokee on the left, can't tell on the right...
They brought back surge, and it's just as glorious as I remember. I buy a few cans whenever I find it.

The calorie count on the bottle and lack of signs it was shot on film kinda gives it away as being modern.
Quick, go pick up a brand-new FD and twin-turbo Supra. :)
Gimme a JOLT cola, and we're in business.
I did not shed a single tear when Blockbuster failed. They needed this advice early on: "be careful how you treat your customer - there might be competition later!"
I spent 9 years (1987-1996) working for Coca-Cola. Shortly after Crystal Pepsi, Coke introduced Tab Clear.
The stuff was AWFUL. I seem to remember it had a slight cinnamon taste.
Tab was already a disgraced name considering that by then it was already wearing a warning label that Saccharine caused cancer in lab animals. Even stupider, the main package for Tab Clear was a can which therefore meant that the packaging then failed to even show off the products main feature. Etc, etc... The product was a failure form the beginning.
As you can read here at the bottom of Wiki, it is theorized that Tab Clear was intentional "Kamikaze" marketing developed to ruin Pepsi Clear's marketing push and generally kill the entire category.

I think that's a Mazda Tribute on the right.
I don't understand how the Blockbuster is still open. I thought the company completed folded and vanished??

Sitting in my FJ60 I realize I am period correct too. Ha! Check my state parks stocker at the bottom left. 2016. Proof!
From what I understand , there is one franchisee that was doing ok and when the company was going under he bought or was given the whole brand.
There are lots of people with RVs/ remote cabins with no internet for Netflix so it still works for them I guess.
I actually didn't check anything out as we have internet at our place in Anchorage and Talkeetna. Aaaaand that's why they failed.
In reply to JohnRW1621:
I was working on my dad's 7up route about that time. Our soda was already clear so some geniuses came up with 7up Gold. Make it cola brown but instead of cola flavor add spices because that's what is missinf, a good spice flavored soda.
I wish I had stashed a couple sixes of Miller Clear. Richmond was one of the test markets and I recall drinking a few. It's almost hard to believe they ever made such a thing today. But I checked. It wasn't just a dream!

One of the 711s and a few Sheetz carry Jolt around here, nice screw cap metal bottle now a days.
Did they have VHS or DVD?
I saw Crystal Pepsi at the gas station earlier today, briefly considered getting a bottle to try, then didn't.
Picked one up at dollar general and broke my no pop rule. It was just as glorious as I remember
