Not sure if this one is more "prototype racer" and less "concept car", but it was pretty interesting: Oldsmobile Aerotech.
When looking for pictures of it, I found they'd also built an Aerotech II:
Firebird shooting brake:
Studebaker Scepter:
A hybrid car with so many batteries it needed two more wheels to carry them around. And your eyes don't deceive you: That is a Briggs & Stratton badge on the grille. It uses one of their two cylinder motors to run a generator.

I have that model kit as well somewhere in my attic, unbuilt (one of many) IIRC.
Cool story about the Yamaha car. Too bad it never made it to production.

It just looks like a Targa Pontiac Banshee:

That would RULE.
Well-conceived concept, BTW. Looks production-ready.

ALL of the AMC's in that article were very well done. It really is a shame they will never be built.

I still have a grudge over that article....I never normally read Hot Rod, but I looked at the pictures and decided that I had to buy a copy and show my Dad. (I obviously had not read the last bit about it being a joke.) We were both really let down when we payed closer attention and read the end of it. :(
FWIW, either the gremlin or the pacer would have done nicely at providing a cute, sporting car similar to the mini.

I'm surprised nobody's posted the Wraith in here yet. Maybe it's not ridiculous enough, but I do love it.
BTW I know the title says "concept cars" but feel free to post artwork/sketches/kits/one-offs/whatever too! We're not that picky in this thread.

Also, there's this, which I just found while searching for pics of the Wraith (aka Dodge M4S Interceptor) :
Imagine if they'd actually made that - it would have changed everything about muscle cars!

I love everything about that. Why didn't they just make these for the C3 Vette?
In reply to Jay:
Aerodynamic lift possibly???
Yes, they could have fixed that with a big wing out back, but then it would have looked all Pantera/Countach-ish.
....come to think about it, maybe that's not such a bad thing after all!!!
Not totally ridiculous futuristic, but I'm still pissed Honda never made the Spocket.
Re: Mako Shark paint job. Fish was caught by Bill Mitchell--head of GM Art and Style (though I don't think it was called that by that time) and it hung in HIS office. And, yes they painted the fish to match the car cause they couldn't quite get the paint to match the fish. Mitchell loved the Vette. He and Duntov also didn't see eye-to-eye. Much of the reason for no mid-engine Corvette was because of Mitchell's inability to make the design fit the look he wanted. Duntov was all over a mid-engine Vette, but did not have enough pull supposedly.
I like this however:
Corvette Ramarro by Bertone
I guess the Hurricane is the only real "futuristic" one of the above, but GM IFS and HD are still a bit of an oxymoron, so yeah that makes the GMC a real futuristic concept.
Porsche Tapiro
I really wish they had made this one...
This was my favorite Hot Wheel as a kid.
Still have them.
Monza GT
Monza SS
Corvair Pininfarina Coupe
Corvair Testudo

Because that came out in 1976 and the C3 started in 1968?
Pontiac Banshee. Any ideas what it influenced???

I remember reading about that car. I liked the rotory shifter for the auto.

Wow....I would not have even known it was a concept.
My two favorites:
Lamborghini Bravo:
Maserati Boomerang:
The Lamborghini Marzal is pretty out there:
Here's the Benz I always wanted as a kid:
that rotory benz reminds me of the concorde with it's drooping nose
