slightly too much, but a well taken care of 4.6 will run until the end of all eternity. Maybe offer him 2750?

Hell I run RWD about 30,000 miles every winter without issue. The 4.6 to my experience is good to nearly 300K if maintained well, problem is how well has it been maintained and how would you know, IMHO it is too much money. Offer him $3K, you can put another engine in and still be ahead for that.

yeah, knock him down on the price so you have left over cash for replacement motor and trans. Make sure it's got a limited slip axle for the snow.
