So like many others i went to see the latest MCU blockbuster this weekend.

(aside, we have a movie tavern in town and watching the movie from a giant recliner while feeding our faces and drinking a giant beer is definitely the way to go)

What did you think of it?  Captain America was weird I thought.  Star Lord screwed up in amazing ways.  The ending was a downer.

I also suspect that those of us who thought Thanos might be on to something possibly have some sociopath tendencies.

Enjoyable popcorn flick. Lots of stuff going on and the movie did not feel long however it was obviously long given how many movie goers had to interrupt my view to go to the bathroom. Could have been better especially with the lame Hulk/Banner storyline which felt like a copout. Was hoping to see something groundbreaking in the film but alas that did not happen. Going to see it again with my young son in a week or so.

And you would have thought Dr. Strange would have done something about that in the first place. Know what I mean?

I thought Thanos was amazingly well-written, because despite being a mass-murdering psychopath, he had moments where he made a certain sense or you could feel a certain sense of sympathy towards him at times. Man, Thor is now ridiculously powerful now, especially with his new weapon. Iron Man's new nano-suit is pretty insane too. On the flip side, Vision went from being super strong to kind of pathetically weak this whole film. Star-Lord kind of grated on me, can only watch someone be an idiot who refuses to listen or take things seriously without it getting grating. Glad to see that one plot point from the first Captain America film get resolved. Where the hell was Valkyrie?

All in all, really good movie, despite the sheer amount of characters, it never felt like it was trying to do too much.

Remember what Dr Strange said. There was only one winning outcome, and what he did was "the only way." All part of the plan, I think.

Sort of the Marvel version of Rogue One (or as my son calls it "Star Wars - Everybody Dies").  Assuming there isn't some sort of miracle cure, they sort of gutted the franchise.  On the flip side, it was enormously entertaining and consistently funny, right up to the last 10 minutes.

It was a good way to retire a couple of characters, but there were some that made me say "wtf, that guy was going to make the studio money".

My prediction:  everyone who got dusted at the end will be back.  Everybody else who died (except maybe Gamora and Vision) is gone for good.  Next prediction - Tony and Steve both die in the sequel.

Yeah, anyone who disintegrated is pretty safe. Once they get the Time or Reality Stone back, they can just rewrite them back to the life. Look at the comic it is based off, and Thanos killed every hero who fought him, killed half the universe, went on to start slaughtering Celestials, before Nebula stole the Gauntlet, killed him, and then Adam Warlock used it to reset the universe.

I'm pretty sure that Loki, Heimdall, Gamora and Vision are dead-dead though. And with Chris Evans' contract up, and I believe RDJ's, I'd expect both of them to die in Avengers 4.

If you were still watching after the credits and didn't recognize the logo you should look up Captain Marvel.  Given the positive feedback the studio got after Black Panther for having a strong female character she's got the potential to be on the powerful end of her own backstory.  Powerful like Thanps powerful.  Add that to the new Ant Man movie coming out,  with the whole quantum realm angle, and all they need to do is get the gauntlet from Thanos to be able to undo the bulk of the carnage.

I hope they get Stark and Rocket together building something just so Tony can get shut down by a raccoon.  That would make the next movie for me.

I know the folks who turned into dust will be back. Shurii will rebuild vision using vibranium. Adam Warlock, Capt Marvel, and Thor will beat the gauntlet off of Thanos and bring back the half that were gone.

The movie was great to me and they did well not making Thanos a mindless evil idiot. I didn't like how weak Vision appeared to be but enjoyed that they finally gave Thor some of the powers he was missing. I really like the GotG crew because they're a hilarious group of berkeley ups that somehow makes it through things. Hulk not wanting to come out kinds of make sense in a way. Him and Bruce had a falling out then to add insult to injury he got royally whooped by Thanos. So basically he's like, "man berkeley this E36 M3 I'm out".

I'm not a comic book guy, may or may not watch this (I've seen a few random movies lately).  But every friend that posted on Facebook this weekend about it was... they sounded like a life-altering event happened.  Now I'm curious.

Adam Warlock isn't being introduced until GotG Vol. 3, which comes out and is set after Avengers 4, so doesn't sound like he'll be helping out with beating Thanos. But Captain Marvel they have said is going to be "the most powerful hero in the MCU", so with Thor's absurd amounts of power, they should be able to rock Thanos pretty good. And Thanos admitted he wiped out Xandar, which lines up with the origin of Nova, so maybe we'll see him. And, yeah, I agree that Hulk was maybe afraid after the beatdown that Thanos gave him. That was pretty brutal, and a good way to immediately showcase how Thanos is absolutely not berkeleying around.

Cobie Smulders gets about 4 seconds of screen time before getting dusted. I thought that sucked. I think Dr. Strange is a butthole, but I also think it's part of the big picture and the only winning scenario that he mentioned. The ongoing debate about the overpopulation of the world and the universe is a good one. There are a finite amount of resources and we can't just keep procreating unabated. I'm kinda with Thanos on this. He never set out to rule the universe, he just wanted to make it better and restore balance. I thought it was a great twist having the "bad" guy win one and the heroes all got their butts kicked, even if this all gets reset in the next movie. As large as the universe is, how the hell does Earth wind up with TWO infinity stones???? WTF???

I’m actually surprised to read that people think that everyone who got turned into dust isn’t coming back. This isn’t the last Avengers movie and half those characters need to be back for other movies that are coming out.

All I know is that Captain Marvel is now getting involved and E36 M3 is going to get crazy.

Agreed. Black Panther just smashed the box office, you really think they are going to get rid of him? And Spider-Man 2 and Dr. Strange 2 are confirmed as well

Also, relevant to this, saw this last night and had a chuckle.

So there was a station full of dwarves that make tools for the gods. obviously they themselves can yield the tools because, duh. and the dwarves are 12ft tall and 1000lbs and the last remaining one has hands of steel.

How did Thanos walk out of there alive?

Did you see the beatdown he laid on Hulk without even breaking a sweat or using an Infinity Stone?
