TIL that even when it’s 30 degrees and freezing rain, homeless people won’t go to a shelter if they can’t be together (a couple have been camping in the park behind my house for a few weeks now).
This evening I wend down and offered to drive them to a shelter and they politely declined citing that since they are married they would rather sleep outside than be separated in a shelter.
Being the nosy busybody that I am I made some calls and had the homeless van come by to make a check on them. Hopefully they took advantage of it, it’s nasty out. I can’t see them under their shelter anyway......

TIL that consuming a large number of Oreos will look like you are suffering from massive internal bleeding when it comes time for your body to get rid of them.
Also, WebMD is a scary website.
Never go to WebMD, everything youve ever had leads to a lethal disease. Sneeze? Syphigonohepalaids. Stub your toe? Cancer of the everything.

It sort of has to. If Joe Snuffy were to go online and look up his symptoms and the Web MD site said “common cold” but two weeks later he died of cancer. His family would sue. So everything has to default to worst case scenario even if the chances of it being bad are very very low.
TIL that the pneumatic Asian woman who sold my sister a car a couple weeks ago goes by a professional name. Lexivixi. Use this information at your own risk.
I suppose it does help explain the M3 in the garage of the McMansion, the Tesla she bought her sister, and the hair/nails/lips/etc that had all had serious amounts of work done. And when I asked her what she did for a living: “some modeling.”
In reply to KyAllroad (Jeremy) :
After seeing her work, I hope you had the car sanitized.
I learned today that one of my Mother In Laws brothers was a crew chief for Bruce Yackey. Why did it take 25 years for my MIL to mention that to me?
In reply to KyAllroad (Jeremy) :
butt surgery has been big for a while in them thar parts. How does she look down thar?

In reply to KyAllroad (Jeremy) :
well the first google search brought up something called pornhub for little miss whatever her name is. Closed that window pretty fast.
In reply to KyAllroad (Jeremy) :
That sucks. Plus I've never heard much good about our city shelter. A lot of folk have been scared to go. Maybe things have changed. Definitely it seems to be a focus of the city for families at least they keep saying.
I learned that Renee Zellweger is in Dazed and Confused.
In reply to KyAllroad (Jeremy) :
Homeless shelters tend to be E36 M3ty places. I deal with a lot of homeless people at work and most of them have horror stories of robberies, assault, and a few rapes. I don’t blame them for not wanting to go. When I drove a night bus I’d end up with a few on cold nights who would just sit in the back and ride around with me.

TIL there are several companies that make brush attachments in nylon, steel, and brass for reciprocating saws. Part of me wonders why and the other part thinks it's genius.

Once you try to use one you will forget about the part that thought it was genius.
ace hardware does tool rentals. good to know.
If you chew the same piece of gum fir 5 hours straight, it suddenly turns into some pulpy blob in your mouth that is no longer tasty or gum.
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
That is called Fruit Sripe gum. Its not ment to be chewed for more than 30 seconds. Garuntee a manly gum like Big League Chew won't let you down.
Or Bazooka. Those little bricks have been on the shelf for 71 years. And taste like it, too.
In reply to Appleseed :
It was 5 gum. I learned about fruit stripe being a waste of money pretty quickly.
TIL microwave biscuits and gravy are both more expensive and lower quality than my preferred gas station biscuits and gravy.
This could probably also go into the confession thread.
TIL There is a difference between Maroon and Burgundy.
And how that will affect accent colors on my Eagle if I try to add period correct graphics.
During World War Two the US produced too many concrete barges. To improve morale the US converted several of them to floating ice cream ships (chocolate, vanilla, and whatever locally available fruit there was) then built several refrigerated "ice cream ships" to serve as floating ice cream parlors and towed them around the Pacific theater. The ships could produce upwards of 10 gallons per 7 minutes.

This reportedly had a pretty major impact on the Japanese morale as they were short on supplies during much of the Pacific campaign and the Americans would roll in with something as excessive as a boat to make sweets.
