Good. A bad show about cars and motorsports is better than any sort of show about idiots from New Jersey.

Has anyone noticed that Corolla, who does do some vintage racing, has already run two expensive cars off the track at Willow Springs and damaged them?

In one of them he shifted from 3rd to 2nd (instead of 4th) and the other one has something to do with flipping on the windshield wipers I think. Both cases ended up with the tire bead full of rocks.

I like TG USA, I will continue to watch. The second season seemed like a Challenge Every Episode season, but it was still good. WAY better then most of the other crap out there. And remember TG UK can get pretty formulaic also.

I would be more worried about sounding good rather than looking good. I mean come on, Tanner is the best looking one on there and he's no looker. Sounding good is important.

I am not sure you would like that. Having someone on a show with no on camera presence can be painful to watch no matter how knowledgeable.

People were ripping on TG US when it started because the hosts came off bad, and they all have some sort of camera / stage / performance experience!!

Glad to see the show is coming back, and again I will call out for a TGUSA vs. TGUK in some sort of challenge. Stig vs. Stig while we're at it too.

Look, the show has awesome cars being driven in anger. I'd watch it if it was hosted by Martha Steward, a Klansman and Charles Manson. I would suggest Tanner talking 50% less and driving 50% more.

I enjoy the show :)... and not surprised about the 3rd season they keep getting better and this season was MUCH better then the 1st... it took TGUK till the 2nd or 3rd season to really get a good fit and feel of what/who it was... TG OZ never got that feel (not that I didn't watch that also and was sad to hear they where canceled)

According to Wiki:

Top Gear is a British television series about motor vehicles, primarily cars. It began in 1977 as a conventional motoring magazine show. Over time, and especially since a relaunch in 2002, it has developed a quirky, humorous style.

So I think it might have taken a little more than the 2nd or 3rd season. That's why I couldn't understand the hatred for the 1st season of TGUS.

I'm nearly the opposite. I like USTG because the deal with cars that I'm familiar with (I'm way more interested in the best dually pickup than the latest round of small hatches that aren't available here) and they don't pick on "fat" Americans. Might just be me. Without Clarkson, I'd enjoy TGUK more.

...and I like that signature!

True, but when they talk about "the first year" it was after Clarkson did the revision. It was hamster Jezza and another guy who they replaced with May later on.

You can find the first revised show online. look at how empty the place is. Even now as they show the "lost" episodes where they are road testing normal cars, when Jordan was they start in the reasonably priced car, you can hear her voice echo off the walls and I would think she would have been able to boost the audience with her....ahem...tracks of land

Will watch. Looking forward to it actually. And I like Ferrara if only cause he's EYE-talian from Long Island. As am I. I know, small market segment, but I find him funny and his NY references play well with me.

Tanner keep driving.

Rutledge expose more of your car-guy cred.

Did that even make it past 1 episode? I watched it and never heard another thing about it and didn't care to.

Its good to hear TG USA is doing well. F the haters, we get the original Top Gear and these extra bonus TG USA episodes, its more not less, what is there to hate?

I have some episodes of top gear from the early 90's when both Clarkson and Tiff were on. It was very much motorweek plus a bit of weekly racing news. No stories no host interaction, just a boring car news show.

As much as I loved the first season somehow I only managed to catch about ten minutes of the second. Oh I'm almost finished watching every episode of tguk on netflix for the third time. I almost have them memorised.

I dunno I find it hard to believe he is actually southern, seems too city-fied to me. But I'm from the Mississippi delta so I'm used to "deep" south.

He's playing a part, just like the guys from the UK do. That's why James May compared Top Gear UK to a sitcom. The situations are fake/improbable, the ineptitude that we laugh at is contrived for the sake of entertainment, facts never get in the way of a good story.

In real life, Rutledge is much more into quirky old cars than "Southern" stuff....the typical nascar guy doesn't drive a datsun or restore a 1983 civic station wagon. In that respect, he's very GRM

With what I've seen of Rutlege's tastes in cars, I'm stunned that he doesn't frequent this board. He seems like he'd fit in here pretty well. He's actually my favorite of the TGUS crew. Very comfortable on camera.

Maybe he does? I'm sure if you're at a certain level you don't go flopping your name about A to not look like a douche, and B to keep fanbois from wrecking a good place with all the mouthbreathing and flatbilling.

I'm sure he doesn't, or at least he hides it better than on ratsun...he's got an account there. He doesn't use his name, and from what I've seen, doesn't post often. [I don't hang out there often, though.]

Same thing with the H.A.M.B. Jessie James is a member. He posts occasionally, and people know who he is. I have heard that Kirk Hammet and James Hetfield also are H.A.M.B. guys. They're actually pretty into that scene.

yup... old top gear is NOT the same as NEW top gear... although it is fun to watch some of the old boring 90's TG's... TG oz and TG US are all based on clarksons "new" TG setup... and as mentioned... it took the 2nd season for them to find their people... and I don't think they really got comfortable all together untill about the 3rd...

same kind of thing is happening with TGUS... TGUK never got that feel... I liked the oz spin on it and am sad it's gone... but it always felt a bit forced.
