Hi everyone, I quick question for you on what size torsion bars I should use on my 1970 plymouth /duster.
It's originally a slant six car. I've completely redone the front suspension with new everything, Ball joints, upper and lower control bushings, tie rods, wilwood disc brakes.ect. The rear end is done with superstock springs relocated 2" inbound, Mini tubbed with 8 3/4, 391gear.
Im planning on using this car mostly for weekend cruises.
Of course I'll have to take it to the track and see what she'll run too. but like I say, mostly a street car.
The new engine is ready, 440 stock with 906 heads, mild purpleshaft cam and Schumacker headers.
I was wondering what you guys think would be a good size torsion bars with this set up? Someone recommened .920 but I thought I would ask the pro's
For a no cornering machine, the /6 bars are more then adequate. If you want something a little more corner worthy, step up to the small block bars. They have a stiffer rate then the /6 bars.
When you say track do you mean drag strip or road coarse?
Ranger - even with the big block?
/me knows next to nothing about torsion bar setups.

Just for the streets. I will however take it to milan dragway to see what she'll run.
Even with the big block.
Depending on the power, the A-body Hemi cars used /6 bars and some people even turned those down further for drag racing.

Slant six torsion bars (0.830") are a pretty popular setup for drag racing. 0.890" would be factory big block torsion bars, with the 0.920" being a step up. By contemporary standards, A-bodies have very soft springs; I'd probably go with 0.920" for the street. My Dart is running the 0.870" smallblock bars with a slant six. I have ended up deciding it will be a drag car, but I'll probably stay with them.
We seem to have had a similar thread on this very forum several years ago.
