I must be doing something wrong. I've had one car towed in the last 20 years or so. Also had one truck winched out of being stuck. I think each instance was less than $150 so I'm doing pretty good staying away from the $300+/year tow insurance.
I would say I should drive worse cars but ... maybe not.
Honestly I haven't had that many cars towed recently because they've broken down. Mostly I've used it to move the 911 to the shop, so I wouldn't have to Uber home. One time my daughters Xterra needed a jump and the tow company never showed up. That was a problem...
