i have a general rule that i don't like it any time a movie or tv show does a time travel thing where they either go to the year it was made or another year that ends with the same 2 digits.. i think the "save the whales" Trek movie is the reason i made that rule...
also, the "save the whales" thing always kind of felt like heavy handed preaching to me- "if we kill the whales we will all die!!!"- and i don't like that kind of thing in my science fiction entertainment moving pictures. they could have pushed the same message in a more subtle manner and it wouldn't have bothered me.
