Been looking at LED's to illuminate the truck bed at night. Have a cargo lamp but need something better for inside the bed, maybe under rail.

My truck has a unused pigtail behind the LR taillight working off the cargo light switch. May be a pain to wire to 12V LED lights tho w/ factory drop-in bedliner , brackets for bed-extender and rails for hard tonneau. It can be done tho. Switch activation is center console so no activation at tailgate if needed right then and there.

Saw several battery powered LED strips for trucks, AA or AAA batts. How good are these?

Easy button just might be generic stick on battery powered puck or stick LED's like closet/ night lights of the W-M type.

Any experience or recommendations?

TIA

I put something similar to this (but cheaper and not as nice) in the bed in my Ranger.  It was cheap, and for the price I was happy.  Hopefully this one is a little brighter - was considering a few in my F350 to help with lighting, mounted under the rails.  I'd probably just silicone them in - easy enough and you can't really see them anyway :-)  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008YWFVLE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1

Led strips? The kind that come on a roll.

Attach them under the bed rails, and only have to deal with one power point per side.

I've looked at the $20 under rail kits they sell at WalMart but haven't done it yet. Last year at Harbor Freight the free item was little LED lights with a hook on one end and a magnet on the back. I got two and used them through the winter last year. Ran on AA batteries and gave me enough light when loading the MTB after a night ride. The magnets weren't strong enough to work through the spray on bedliner so I just hooked them on the tonneau hardware at the back. They fell off sometimes but never died.

I'd like to do the under rail kit but just haven't been motivated yet. If I do, an on/off switch at the back will be a necessity though.

These are my go to for waterproof surface mount lighting.
