It's recently come out that long before Exxon started funding the denial of global warming, they set out to make absolutely sure it was real. They were on the bleeding edge of climate research in the '70s and, in secret, were way ahead of their time in knowledge of its effects:

http://insideclimatenews.org/news/16092015/exxon-believed-deep-dive-into-climate-research-would-protect-its-business
In the '70s and '80s the company internally took global warming more seriously than any government does today, and even considered reducing their own production to reduce fossil CO2 release(!). When governments and the general public started to clue in around the late '80s, they decided that denying that there was any problem was a better approach.
That's common business practice today, but it's amazing to think that back then, this company knew far better than anyone else that their business was trashing the planet, and decided to go ahead with it anyway.
Interesting.
More interesting will be how long this thread lasts.... this could go bad REALLY fast.
Looks like you've taken over the role I used to play here. cept I used to yell more, cause I'm awesome.
I whole heartedly disagree. You are not in fact, awesome. I am awesome. YOU ARE WRONG SIR!!!!
Weren't we worried about Global Cooling back then? Maybe after the research Exxon was just thinking-neat, were solving the Global Cooling problem.
Louder doesn't mean righter (except when you are.)

MY GOD MAN! DID YOU EVEN LOOK AT THE EXHAUST PORT DESIGN!!!!! THAT WILL NEVER WORK!!!
(this is not the argument you are looking for)
Inside Climate News, next thing you'll be posting is how NAMBLA is just a support group for people with problems, unbiased news source is unbiased!
Climate change will be the least of our worries once the folks who think dicking with the weather to solve the problem we created is the answer.
I like this thread only because it has a NAMBLA reference.

The site freely admits to having a pro-science, anti-BS bias. It's not like they're hiding anything

Well, I'm glad we're clear on that!
If you'd like another source, you could refer to Exxon's internal research
Remember what Mars was like before we found the oil?
This thread keeps crashing my computer! I think you've pissed off the wrong people!
