Bill, are you planning to leave this option open for future donations?
PayPal coming through with the last name Albert. Not much but use it at your discretion for whatever is needed.
I have no available cash right now, but, I am going to take 50% of any art sales at my gallery show that is on until March 27 and send them to this effort. I will also post this fact prominently at the show site, maybe I'll get an extra sale that way.

Paypal sent. It wanted 2€ fee if I sent HUF, so I decided to send EUR to your account and add the 2€, which is hopefully about what your bank takes for the conversion..
Thanks for organizing!
Here is the 8.5 X 11 poster I am posting several places in my gallery show.

I'm really not sure on this one. On one hand, this very much wont be a one-and-done situation. On the other hand, trying to keep things organized is really tough.
I do want to continue to help though, so let me get back to you all on this once the dust settles a bit.

I saw the euros hit, and thought that might be you! Thanks!

That is incredible! Good luck with the gallery, let us know how it goes!
Alright guys, so tomorrow is the big day. I'm ecstatic to report that our efforts have raised over 2-million forint for the shelter construction in Kisgorbo, Hungary! Better yet, I can see that donations are still coming in!
I'm going to submit the bank transfer at 8am my time tomorrow (just in case the Mayor did not yet meet his deadline to pay for the heaters) and will visit the site approximately 2-hours later. Along with me will be a copy of Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, some fresh fruits and veggies (they're expected to receive as many as 20-people this weekend) and some duplo/lego kits that have been donated by some local military members. Maybe I'll turn one of those extra $15 donations into a couple beers for the towns people doing the construction.
I just wanted to say again, "Thank you all for doing what you've done, and for doing what you do". This is going to be awesome, I know it.
Just sent you a wee bit. Thanks for all you're doing.

Sounds like an excellent use of funds!

Thank you for all you've done. I don't think I'm alone in feeling like there's more we should be doing from over here.
When I think of all the stupid little stuff that I do with money all the time, this just seems so much bigger.
Thank you, Bill.
Everyone, the transfer has been made:
2,158,775 HUF
Sent this off, right on schedule. Thank you for everything!
There'll be no other activity in that paypal account scheduled for the next few weeks, so if money trickles in I'll be sure to forward that along as well
Is it okay to have that specific info on the internet?
Account number should be eliminated.
I did a quick edit to take out the banking details, but left the total sent. And a quick Google shows we raised just a tick under $6300 at today's exchange rate. Fabulous job, all. I love our people.

That's awesome to hear! Nice job everyone but Kudos Especiale Bill for coordinating the whole thing.
Bill, are you going to continue collecting, or is this a one and done affair? I ask because a non-GRM friend of mine in another state wants to mail me a check and have me make the contribution to you.
Thanks for all the work, man. I'm overwhelmed just thinking about it.
For those who aren't following the mayor's Facebook page, he thanked both Grassroots Motorsports Magazine and Bill by name. He didn't mention the Pope and his followers until the next line.

Great!!! I didn't get a link to the FB thing, but it's wonderful to see this work.

The link is in the first post.
Here's the link to the page for simplicity's sake: https://www.facebook.com/groups/251336080537345
So yesterday morning turned out to be a whirlwind. The local international school (QSI) ran a food drive last week when they found out about our collection here on GRM, and the shelter we had been helping locally is down to 2 families (some found work in Budapest, some headed further west) so we had TONS of extra stuff, and another American family had collected some lego/duplo kits, all to donate. The result was one FULL 4-Runner.
Here's the clippings from the mayor's post, shamelessly google translated via the book of faces:
He mistakenly mentioned GRM being in California, but that's understandable. One popular costal state is easily to confuse with another popular costal state, so I wont hold it against him
Here are some pictures I snapped of the facilities:
The school sits on 2.5 acres and most of it is unpaved, so the greenery is nice. I will say that finding the school was a little more difficult than it should have been for a town of 180 people (I mean, there were only THREE ROADS in the entire village and I still had to ask for directions!!!). I found out that the school was abandoned in 2004, but there are several villages in close succession on this road, and this was the central school for all of them, unfortunately a lack of "intelligent workers" (I'm thinking he meant educators, and the like) forced the closure.
Construction started one week ago, and is nearly complete as of now. I honestly have no idea how they can keep so many workers on so many different tasks so coordinated. You'd think people would be falling over each other, or waiting on someone to finish something else before they could do "this or that" but there's none of that going on.
A bit unique to the area, and especially to a school of this size, was the gymnasium. It was fully renovated last year and was planned to be a community gym, but will be used as part of the shelter so kids play wont be weather dependent.
The mayor was absolutely a stand up guy and you can tell that he's very interested in this project on a personal level. I 100% think that's why he's got the huge volunteer team he does, and why it running as smoothly as it is. This is going to be a great place for people to go. Whoever lands here is going to be well taken care of.
With regards to keeping the donations open: I started a spreadsheet last night and got it worked out to where I could absolutely keep the donations flowing in. This paypal account usually only gets any activity near the beginning of the month, so what I'll do is make the donation on or about the 25th of each month, that way it's clear of funds when the activity starts. Easy peasy! Then I'll post updates here along with any mentions of GRM on Kisgorbo's FB page!
Cheers everyone!
