I've been lusting after this since 1993, when I was 12:
Nothing but a pure driver's car. Nothing to dilute the experience. I would drive it everyday. To work. To the store. I wouldn't care.

Weekend weapon? Unlimited budget? Presuming that applies to operating costs and maintenance as well...
If I had more money than brains and/or unlimited cash, I would want to spend some quality time with one of these big babies!
One of the few P-cars that I would drop stupid money on.
I could probably afford Porsches poor cousin Karmann

Its going to take me just a bit longer to get the Miura.
Your thread title is wrong. With an unlimited budget how could you just buy one car! If I ever won the mega ball lottery I would first build a building to park all of my cars in! One car. I couldn't do it.
So many neat choices... But I've been having Ferrari lust since wearymicrobe put the 599 in my head...
Pure, non-street w/e toy? Probably a vintage racer of some sort... A DTM E30 M3 maybe... Or go find the guy who bought the Group 44 GT6.
Just for my own fun on the weekends with someone else's money?
No doubts, no hesitation, it would be a 250 GTO (or I would be happy to settle for a 330 LMB also.)
As soon as you start qualifying things further (like I pay the running costs, or I have to drive it daily, worse yet, find parking for it daily, or it is only for wheel-to-wheel racing on the weekend) then things might change, but for my own driving fun, a vintage V-12 performance Ferrari, just new enough to have disc brakes but old enough to have real style and skinny-ish tires is automotive perfection.
Hmm, assuming I had unlimited money for a fun car and a DD, but everything else was the same, I would pick a Lamborghini Jarama for a weekend car, and an Aston Martin Lagonda for a DD. Yes, I did probably pick the weirdest cars anyone who posts in this thread will mention lol.
I'm assuming you mean that you're given a blank check to be used on one vehicle. So.... if that was the case, I would buy this:
Then I'd sell that beyotch. With the $2M I got for that, I'd buy one of these:
Then I'd buy this:
Throw in an LS9/T-56/partial cage/recaros and every suspension bit I could find.
DD would be this:
And the wife would get this: The rest of the cash I would have would be for fuel, tires and entry fees.
I already own it.
It has been nickel-and-diming me toward an unlimited budget for the last 10 years, and it still doesn't work like it should.
Will it ever be blisteringly fast? No. Will it ever be dead-nuts reliable? I doubt it. Is it a hell of a lot of fun when it works right? Oh yes. That's enough for me.
US street legal FD Spirit R or
then for daily
and then a cummins with nv4600 in my suburban for hauling
To clarify further. Unlimited budget, one car. No cost of maintenance limits, that's part of the unlimited budget. Yes, only one car. If I had stupid money, I'd have a stupid amount of cars, but this hypothetical situation limits you to only one. It doesn't have to be street legal. Doesn't have to be a race car. No stipulation on anything, except it is only one car. What is your one car that you would buy with absolutely unlimited fundage.
How many cars are we talking about here?
One. The answer is only one.
