I listened to my first entire Iron Maiden album on Saturday Night while vacuuming. I picked Number of the Beast. ..Whoa is all I have to say

I disagree. You need Killers. It pre-dates Bruce's vocals and the sound is raw. It's my favorite Maiden album. Followed by Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind.
The older albums are available on Amazin prime music. It's been a while since I listened to Iron Maiden.
What was their live album, "Live After Death"??? I'm surprised that one never got me any speeding tickets BITD. I really need to get a copy on CD.
In reply to Giant Purple Snorklewacker:
I'll stick to my suggestion. 5 & 6 are Iron Maiden & Killers, 7 Live after Death. 8 & 9 Somewhere in Time & Seventh Son. 10 would be Flight 666. After that I'm flexible.
Don't forget Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Both of those are incredible albums.
UP THE IRONS!!!!
I'm going to throw in a vote for the newer ones, too. I'm also a fan of "Brave New World" and "The Final Frontier."
Personally, I celebrate the man's entire catalog.
Pre-Bruce Maiden sounds kind'a flat. Number of the beast, Piece of Mind and Powerslave are where it's at.
my 3 year old loves iron maiden, and tried to get up in front of a group of other small children at a karaoke thing and sing run to the hills. i must be doing things right.

Yup. \m/
I'm partial to Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son as those were the albums that really introduced me to Maiden. I used to have Live After Death on damn-near continuous play in my truck's cassette deck. I am so used to the live versions of those songs, I have a hard time listening to some of the studio versions.
Of newer albums, Dance of Death is my favorite.
In other Maiden-geek news, I just bought two new guitars: a Jackson Adrian Smith model and the new for 2015 Fender Dave Murray "California Custom" model.

Awesome documentary, for sure.
I have no interest in the Paul Di'Anno years, though. I like the first three Dickinson albums. The cool thing about Maiden is how tuneful it is--a lot of essentially "pop" choruses. Heavy, but very listenable.
"Wasted Years" is pretty far up there for me.
There is a good "history of" series on YouTube. Basically an expanded version of the old "12 Wasted Years" VHS video - some footage is the same, some is added. It covers the early years of the band up to a bit after Seventh Son. They really went and searched out and interviewed damn near every guy who has ever been in the band, from known to obscure.
The Death on the Road DVD set includes a cool DVD about the making of the record. I need to watch that again...
