once she's mended I think the next project should be a RV.
Ow. Sorry to hear of the trip ending injury, hope she heals quickly. I've been out West only once and I do plan to go back, only this time with a big dualsport bike and just spend time wandering.
That was a tough trip buddy, I hope The Wife heals up quickly and that the two of you get to have a real vacation soon.
Doesn't trip insurance (usually automatic with VISA and the like) cover things like the $1100 charge for emergency changes to travel plans? Might be worth a phone call to see.....

In the summer. I went last year in August and only needed a jacket a few days out of 10. I can't imagine February!
If anyone is interested the rest of the pics are on the Facebook. I have the page set so you shouldn't need to have an account to see them. https://www.facebook.com/wally.m.9/photos_albums
If you go to Vegas, not too far out is the Valley of Fire state park/ natural area and Lake Mead/Hoover Dam which are both worth the drive imo.
Please pray for my wife Jodi. She was having surgery to repair her elbow and there were some complications. They have her sedated on a respirator right now and it's going to be a long few days.
sending the prayers from others that I've received her way as well. What can we do for you? It's going to be a long few nights and days on your end as well. If you need a ear let us know.
Thanks everyone. The doctor seems optimistic that they can remove the breathing tube tomorrow without giving her a tracheotomy. Right now she's just squeezing the hell out of my hand. They upped her pain med a bit more so hopefully she will sleep. She's had nightmares all week about this and she is fighting like hell to stay awake.
If you don't mind my asking, did they do a CT? And if so did everything check out? Reason I'm asking is beyond the nightmares, if her body is telling her not to allow herself to fall into a state of rest that can be a concern. If they haven't I'd grab a nurse and try to have one done by 8am.
She finally fell asleep but it took a while. After her stroke her biggest fear was that she's go under and develop "Locked In" syndrome, and she has had nightmares all week about it. They've done a number of scans this week because several of her doctors had to clear her for surgery so I don't believe there is anything hiding but there are more tests coming. The biggest problem was every time they tried to take put her breathing tube her airway closes down.
