Boy, I didn't know that I needed David Harbour as a badass, ass-kicking Santa Claus taking on a team of mercenaries until I saw this trailer. Seems absolutely absurd, and I'm all about it.

Definitely wanting to see this.  I enjoyed Fatman a couple years ago, and this looks way better.

As I understand, there are folks involved with the production of John Wick, Nobody, and Bullet Train, so the action ought to be pretty legit.

When I started watching the trailer the first time, I thought it was going to be that David Harbour was just playing a deranged mall Santa who was a former special forces member or something. I like that they leaned into it and made him the actual Santa Claus.

"If we replace John Mcclane with Santa Claus, there will be no doubt that it is a Christmas movie."

it appears we have different definitions of legit. I assume some form of slang meaning " fun to watch"?

I went and saw it tonight and laughed hysterically the whole time. There's ridiculous one-liners, some R-rated Home Alone sequences, pretty brutal fight scenes, and a death that's like a Christmas-themed Mortal Kombat fatality. This is my new favorite Christmas movie.

Directed by David Leitch, or just produced?

We just watched Bullet Train and thought it was hilarious.

In reply to Duke :

Produced by David Leitch. Directed by Tommy Wirkola, which I was a little apprehensive about, since he made Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, which was an absolutely horrendous film. But, he clearly has honed his craft since then, because this was much better.

How's it compare to other such classics as Silent Night, Deadly Night; Jack Frost, and Black Christmas?

In reply to RevRico :

I've never seen two of those, but its definitely better than Jack Frost (not the wholesome Michael Keaton one, I'm assuming). Being worse than Jack Frost would be incredibly difficult. It's not a slasher film like those ones though, it's an action-comedy, more along the lines of Die Hard, but it's Santa Claus in place of John Mcclane and the violence is ramped up to 11.
