I had a feeling his health was failing when they stopped using him as the prize on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.

Godspeed Carl, may your signal be strong and your sound clear.

Damn.  I really wanted him on my voicemail.

The worst was listening to Judy Woodruff mispronounce his last name (Ka-sell??) on the PBS News Hour last night, although she did correct herself at the end of the piece.  I can't imagine what she was thinking.  Ouch.

I'll never forget when I first started listening to public radio many years ago when he was still do the hourly news shorts, "From NPR News in Washington, this is Carl Kassell"

His is a voice that will be missed.
