We have a cheap wall clock that seems to have died. I've tried 3 different batteries with no luck. Is it possible to replace the assembly that runs it? This is the assembly on the back.

Check your local crafts type of stores (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc).  You should be able to find a similar clock movement there.  Usually under $20.  You'll have to carefully pull the hands off the old clock.  Check the shaft size to make sure it'll fit.

A clock kit will set you back about $10, and you won't have to take new stuff apart. If the kit comes with arms that are close enough, you don't have to save anything old but the face (pulling arms sometimes works, but not always). I did a quick AZ search and there are multiple options.

These units are also available as plug ins if you wanted to convert.
