My hospital has a 'stroke alert' protocol to get a rapid diagnosis and get the appropriate treatment started ASAP. They make a big deal out of it for the reasons outlined above.
I'm hoping/assuming that DrBoost has already found this out, and will be reporting back in a few hours!

I went to the doc today. Not the ER. I figured, going into the ER with non-existant symptoms means I'll be sitting there for 3 days watching The View. So I went to my regular doc. She was concerned about the family history of MS. I'm going to see an ophthalmologist tomorrow. She said MS legions are often on the optic nerve, and since the issue centered around my eye, that was a good place to start. She said my blood pressure was high. I've known it has been creeping up for years. My last doc told me that and wanted to give me meds. I convinced her I would change my diet and add excercise. I did, but slipped back into my bad ways.
So, I'll get my script filled and take my meds. After I've proven to myself that I can change my diet and exercise routines I'll go off the meds. I will admit, I'm terrified at the prospect of MS. I'd rather buy an old Russian car.
I'm betting it was a BP spike. Just before I went on BP meds I had a similar instance. Don't let them overdose you. They put me on two meds to start and the combination almost put me in the hospital. I'm down to one and and only taking half of that.
Make sure you keep it under control. Going off BP meds was a big factor in my wife's stroke.

I'll second this. My father in law had one for the same reason.

don't go off your meds without your Dr.'s approval … please don't … you can check you BP all you want … and just because it's come down doesn't mean you can stop taking the meds … it will be the meds that are doing the trick … if you Dr. sees that your BP is on the low side of normal (s)he should be the one to cut back or tell you to stop …
please don't self medicate

You guys kill me. You're all "Go to the ER, this could be serious. Don't drive when you're all cross-eyed, you'll get into an accident. no, no, don't go off your BP meds. Talk to a doctor first!" like you care about me. But IN THE VERY SAME THREAD you're all for me buying an old European car.
One situation could kill me, but the other could lead to a lifetime of being broke, frustrated, depressed, and walking to work.
I'm not sure if I should thank you all for your concern, or curse you for your total, and utter disregard for my well-being
Whatever it might have been, if it happens again, go directly to the ER. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, do not be concerned about freaking out the children, they'll be a lot more freaked out if your inaction turns you into a vegetable.
The little Italian car made my wife happy. A stroke can do strange things the mind.
So the takeaway from today's events is to not buy Italian cars while having altered mental status?
Now that you're cleared, I'll just leave this here:
Dang, I was just getting ready to make a snarky BiTurbo comment

Is that what you call it nowadays? I mean, I'd at least say italian sausage but whatever floats your boat.
If it looks like an italian car, you may have some pressing issues at hand

Since we have descended into Italian humour....
Two nuns sitting in Rome on a park-bench when a streaker runs by:
One had a stroke!
The other couldn't reach!
Thank you all..I'll be playing this room all week!
I had a stroke in the winter and got a Z06. Feel free to use it as an excuse to get one for yourself.

I think that's the point of the Italian car. Walking to work would be good for your high BP.

Boost, late adult purchases of odd Italian cars for the first time IS a leading indicator of a stroke. The sudden loss of auto related rationality has to come from someplace.
BTW, I do have an Alfa Romeo for sale. Of if you manage to find an powertrainless Spider.

I really hope it is NOT MS.
What you're describing sounds exactly like the on-set of a migraine for me. I get very freaked out every time my vision does that. Luckily it's only every few years or so, but still. Dull headache with messed up vision and vertigo. I usually have to get straight in bed with the curtains blacked out to keep from getting a major migraine.
Anyway, hope you feel better and you don't have MS.

Oh come on. If we get enough members, we could petition for our own sub-forum here!

Well, I never thought I'd say this, but thank God it was only a stroke, a mini stroke. I'm relieved. After watching my dad suffer for 25 years, the thought of MS really messed with my head. I know there have been lots of advances in the last 10+ years, but I was afraid I'd have come unglued if that was the diagnosis. I can get control of BP, blood sugar, cholesterol, or whatever other things are contributing factors.
I think my doc is going to schedule an MRI to be sure. For now, I'm relieved and exhausted. Thanks for the concern filks.
Here you go.
It's french, it's Italian, it's 1500 bucks. Enjoy!
It's weird being glad it was only a mini stroke and not MS, but I guess not that weird all things considered. Take care of yourself! Your kids need you. Probably
