Even the wife was impressed.
You were in Door County, and think that was a highlight? You didn't go all the way to the tip of the peninsula, to drive on this road?
Actually, it looks better than it really is. It's maybe a half mile, and with no traffic and ignoring double yellow laws, driving the "racing line" is pretty much just going straight. Back in the 50s-60s, kids used to drag race on it, and the locals complained enough that the County came through and repaved it with sqiggles.

If I'm not mistaken, that's a Turbo S.
640 horsepower, 0-60 in less than 3 seconds and a starting price of only $230,400.
That car is a beautiful color. I don't care much for the wheels though, they look like rather cheap aftermarket ones to me.

Kind of being funny here.
I've been there 20x over the past 40 years. I even convinced my bride to spend our first wedding anniversary in Sturgeon Bay in the middle of February. Very peaceful time in the snowy winter.
Back in 1988 the Bed and Breakfast places were the places to go . We stayed here and had a fireplace in our room. Very romantic for your first anniversary.
I always have to hike the eagle trail in Peninsula State Park when I'm up there visiting my Mom. Weather permitting.
She's in Sister Bay so I've seen all manner of interesting cars parked on the main drag in recent years since it's gone way upscale.

Agreed. Porsche has many better OEM options.
With that color I'd also like to the trim around the doors/window be black instead of chrome. But I guess I can do that when I have $300k to custom order a Porsche.
My wife and daughter, as well as my mother in law and her sister, were in Fish Creek last week. So if you saw a gaggle of girls, one of whom was in a scooter, that was them.
My wife's grandma worked summers at the Summertime (now barringers? 1-2 blocks over from where you took that picture, if my memory of Fish Creek is accurate) when she was a teen. Her aunt owned some cottages up there, grandma apparently slept in a closet so as not to take up an income generating room.
I will go to any part of Door County from September 15 to May 15. From May 15 to September 15, I'll do Sturgeon Bay or anything south.
We stayed in Fish Creek with 2 elderly dogs, a handicapped MIL, and my very pregnant wife. That was 2018. I told my wife that she is more than welcome to come back, but I will not be doing it again during the busy season. Way too many people for it to be in any way a vacation.

We arrived on Thursday and left on Monday. It wasn't as busy as I thought - we hit the Post Office Restaurant on Sunday and there was no wait - kind of surprised too.
We went to drive in movie for the first time and we had a blast. Movie sucked.
Thanks for the history from your family- I love to learn more about the area.
Beautiful car.
I had no idea what Door County was but I'm planning out my next summer vacay to knock out the National Parks of the midwest next year (Voyageurs, Isle Royale, Indiana Sand Dunes, & Cuyahoga Valley). Looks like I'll need to make a stop there as it looks beautiful.
