I really don't have time or the patience to work on a 4 year old water softener - the factory in Ohio useless and I am ready to toss this berkeleyer. Any suggestions on these needed pieces of E36 M3? Rental unit?

Yeah, more info needed. Having said that, I can offer some advice. Don't bother with the consumer-level stuff. We had a Kenmore for a while, and it was junk. Replaced it with a commercially-installed one from a reputable local place, and it's been trouble-free.

WaterBoss 380. Tank fills with water. Brine valve maybe?

My wife is convinced rental is best.

Not too familiar with that unit, removed everything that resembled that and installed quality stuff.

Dont rent, unless you really like the company and dont want to have to do anything to the unit.

Do you know your water quality, and demands? Ph, hardness, city water, well...? How many men, women, children in the home? A basic unit can be installed that will outperform that for not a ton of cash 800-1500, that will require very little maintenance. Is that the only part of your water treatment system?

I serviced and installed water treatment systems for 4-5 years, a lot of the people in the business are snake oil salesman...

Thanks Ross
