Ok this is way way OT, but does anyone here have any sort of Staubli arm installation or programming experience.

Specifically the TX60/s, with the older CS7 controllers.

Hot linked for your pleasure.

For the sake of oddness of the GRM board, please keep the conversation here. This could get interesting.

Sorry guys, I don't know staubli stuff, but I'm certified for maint and programming an any ABB running an S4C controller.

I used to use one of those every day!

Unfortunately, this was in a lab in 8th grade. And they had a neat little GUI for programming. And I don't remember any of it. But I made it move a little ball around a track.

Sorry for the letdown.

10 foot by 10 foot 8000lb automated cell culture machine. ~2.2-2.7 million new cost but the controller is giving me all sorts of problems. Amazingly the arm is more then likely the least complicated part of the whole thing but it refuses commands now and just cycles power failure errors.

I can power through the AWCII rs 232 port on the card but not hyper terminal. I know the port is clean by crossing the pins and doing a echo test.

I keep getting over voltage errors but everything in the box checks out OK. 24 volt outputs for the board is clean and the 400 volt is running fine. +/- 5 volts. No blown fuses and I was able to partially load the calibration files.

might be as simple as a wiped SD card or battery but at ~17K a controller I am not really happy poking around inside right now. Plus 400 volt 100 amp 40kva put a damper on poking around inside while the powers running.

The last Staubli I worked on was a Staubli dobby, when I converted a loom to weave 48" wide carbon prepeg. It won't help you, but it was a cool project.

Those things are a major pain, at least that what I have heard. Lucky some of the power converters and the like cross controllers so parts are still available fo the CS series stuff.

Also now back to your regularly scheduled Canoe's

OK got the answer going to post it here because this post actually comes up in Google.

Step One Pull fan assembly.

Step Two Check the 24v +/- and AWCII card LED's on the AWC Adept controller with power on. (Major danger)

Diagnosis If you have all lights chances are its the AWCII board or SCSI cable failure. My bet is always on the board but due to the 14K new cost check the cable first.

If you have only voltage check in far left light. Chances are its the 24v converter and your in for a major endeavor to replace it. Plus you still might need a new AWCII card due to the way the voltage overran. In this case set aside 20K or so.

If your cheap like me, buy the cards from this weird dude in Israel for 600$ tested instead of 14K.

Or another complete controller on eBay for 5K.

No I bought it used form a failed company for 4% of the new cost. I buy tons of used equipment for labs so I am willing to put up with a lot of crap for a ~2.3-4 million dollar discount.
