Even further than in Back to the Future. I watched Blade Runner today for the first time in 30 years, and unless I'm way off (It was 2019, right?), we have 6 years to genetically engineer slaves, make even better flying cars than BTTF, ruin the atmosphere enough to make L.A. rain all the time, mine and get into wars off-planet, and be taken over by the Japanese.
Ok, switch the last to Chinese, and we're almost there.
have you seen the smog in bejing?
According to Back to the Future II, the Cubs have 2 years to win the World Series.
We should also be about 15 years into the war against the machines.
You wanted flying cars? Too bad, you get smartphones.
Shameless plug for my band!

We write songs about the Terminator. Really. We also used to be called "88mph." Yes, we are dorks.

Before looking into what kind of music you do, did you ever do a cover of The Gothsickles' "Konami Code"?
Eh, I gave up on it when 2001 came around and we weren't flying people to Jupiter.
We have 50 years for Zefram Cochrane to to invent warp drive and initiate first contact with the Vulcans, April 5, 2063.

I was having dinner with my parents and the report describing this insanity came on the news. I immediately thought of the Terminator movies and my Dad and I went into a lengthy conversation about how dumb these people have to be to make automated weapons that are self-thinking. I mean, back in 1984 they predicted that this is a bad idea.
Oh, and I want a hoverboard.

More like 1818 (Frankenstein).
As for the Trek chronology, IIRC by 2013 we're most of the way through the Eugenics Wars and Khan Noonien Singh was deposed and launched into interstellar space for Kirk to discover in "Space Seed" about 15 years ago...

Good news is someone has already designed a suit to have sex in zero gravity.

They've been writing about it much further back than 1984. You need to read some vintage Science Fiction. Good stuff

You guys are right, they have been talking about this for a LONG time before the Terminator movies. Machines taking over is nothing new.
I am ashamed of myself and a terrible sci-fi nut. Now the Cylons, Cybermen, Daleks, and multiple mad scientist-created creatures are converging on my location...
