Major severe weather outbreak likely for Ohio River Valley today.

A major severe weather outbreak appears likely today (Sunday, November 17, 2013) across the Ohio River Valley/Great Lakes region including the states of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Missouri, and Wisconsin.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a high risk (highest category that is rarely issued) for eastern Illinois, most of Indiana, southern Michigan, and parts of western Ohio. The high risk includes the cities of Chicago and Indianapolis with nearly 19 million people living in this risk area. A significant severe weather outbreak is likely, with damaging winds and strong tornadoes being the main threats. Because today is a Sunday, people may not be aware of the developing situation. Now is the time to be ready before the storms develop later this afternoon and into the evening hours

We'll see. They've certainly been talking it up. Guess I'll find out in a few hours.

Wind gusts have been getting pretty rough in StL, but the rain has stayed off and the sun has been peeking through. We'll see.

Stay safe up there in the pink.

It seems to be done in the Peoria IL area. There's a lot of damage all around us, but The_Jed and I are ok.

Thinking of everyone else in the path of this storm, I was rough.

About a week ago following the Phillipine's typhoon the National Weather Service long range prediction for this weekend/ early week was modeled. With the possibility of an arctic cold front western Maryland could receive 30" of snow. Pittsburgh 12". My town 18".

With warmer temps this is what we get.
