I spy this car as I go in. Lady at counter asks details on my car and she starts putting in my data. Porsche, 1962, 356......then I stop and say that it’s the WeatherTech owners car and I have a Sentra, 2007.
Then we both laughed. I crack myself up
Seriously if you in the area make sure you stop in. Free coffee and scones, motorbikes, race cars.......I love this place.

Agreed. Work about 3 minutes from there. Check it out if you're ever in the area.
Ironically a group of machines that never need floor mats

I'm astounded that FLOOR MATS are a large enough industry to generate enough profit to purchase those vehicles...
In reply to Duke :
Have you priced their floor mats?

How many new cars are sold each year? How many manufacturers offer Weathertech as an option (I know Kia does)? Have you seen their competition? It isn't great. Auto industry is huge. Hell, how many people on this board currently own weathertech mats?
In reply to mtn :
When selling a used car I buy the rubber ones and put a new set in the front but I’m one of those guys that puts on new rubber pieces on the clutch and brake peddle.

Yes, which is why I can't believe they sell that many floor mats.
2:30pm - random Wednesday afternoon.
8-10 people standing around buying stuff?
Now they’re pushing a line of dog bowls that are safe - no lead in the metals?
Weathertech has building after building in this area?
This place is a gold mine.
I sell weathertech mats. At a dealer where the manufacturer makes a superior (in my opinion) all-weather floor protector.
People buy the E36 M3 out of their floor mats. Probably half the new car customers buy floor mats after the fact, and about half of those buy weathertech. Had three sets go over my counter just today, and it has been slow.

I bought a swt for the volvo. My in-laqs have them in their Ram.
The guy who owns weathertech is the same fellow who paid $70 million for a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO.
Apparently there's good money in floormats.
FWIW, all my trucks have Husky Liners
Not probably, he WAS the buyer: https://www.cnn.com/style/article/ferrari-250-gto-1963-record-sale/index.html
If you don't have 70-million, I can (for real) hook you up with one of these fine books though. With or without the case: https://www.cnn.com/style/article/ferrari-taschen-marc-newson-book/index.html
Now I know why they charge so much for their mats.
I bet he expensed that F-car purchase. You know, you need an example of one in order to make the template/design for the floor mats for a vehicle. So now, he can add the 1963 F-car 250 GTO to the catalog. Every owner will want a set of those mats, so think of the sales!
We have some Huskys in our work trucks and they inferior to Weathertechs. My beef with Weathertechs is they curl after a few years.

Get them trimmed in the same leather as your Ferragamo shoes and they'll sell.
David McNeil is a genuine car guy. He owns an incredible collection of machinery (yes, including the $70 mil GTO), and he also has raced in the Ferrari Challenge. His son Cooper is also a top-notch racer in his own right.
He really is a self-made guy, who started small, and is now hugely wealthy. (like private jet wealthy) Good for him. He made a better product, insisted that it was manufactured in the U.S. and has marketed his brand very well.
He's also a regular at many of the events in our world. (IMSA races, WIC at Road America, Rolex 24 Hours, Sebring 12 Hour, etc.)
I've only met him in passing, so I can't say I know him well as a person, but it's hard not to admire what he's built.....and how he spends his money.
I have a good friend in Chicagoland who is a very skilled mold-maker. His company lost a bunch of employees to WeatherTech, as they pay better and offer better benefits than his company could afford.
Can't hate a guy for treating his employees well.

In reply to Joe Gearin :
Please understand, I have nothing against the guy or his company or what he does with his money. I'm just kind of amazed.
In reply to Duke :
I'm right there with you. When I heard about the GTO, I was also stunned. Like I said, he could be the biggest jerk in the world....I don't know, don't really care either. I do admire the company he's built, and he helps to support our scene, so I'll give him credit.
He might not have the record for long.
RM is auctioning off another 250 GTO this weekend that has great history and has won the Targa Florio multiple times.
I'm glad there are guys out there who can step up and be the caretakers of cars like this. Museums simply don't have the budget to handle a car like that properly.

Yeah, but does the other car have Weathertech mats?
I asked the lady if they have 356 mats and she said if they didn’t he probably had a set made special for his 356.
This makes me want to swing by a lot and see if other cars are parked in his spot.
