Nobody told me there weren't any race cars!
(It was a March against Monsanto rally in Portland)
Yeah, I'm against GMO's. Modifications are for race cars.

I ran into a guy holding an anti GMO sign in ST. Augustine FL today. Must have been some big thing I guess.

Over two million people protesting in 52 countries. We had 3K-4K today in Portland.
We had a group of anti-GMO folks out in our tiny town. Out here it kinda struck me as preaching to the choir in the middle of nowhere.
And I had to roll my eyes and get irritated when someone then felt the need to start telling me about "chem trails".
I like your sign better than the ones around here.

Ya, but that's not really special for Portland with all the wierdos and hipsters around there. What else are people with no jobs supposed to do?
Seriously though, I was in downtown Portland 4 weeks ago and there are huge signs all over the place about people not wanting fluoride in their water. I lol'd.

The wife and I flew out there a couple weeks ago to look for a house and noticed the fluoride thing, seems to be a pretty hot topic
Meh. I've got no trouble with GMOs. I have a serious problem with corporate cronyism, though. I think you're protesting the wrong side of the issue.
If you're sensitive to fluoride, like me, then it's a big deal to ruin some of the best tasting municipal water in the country for something that hasn't been proven to do anything worthwhile for adults. Let alone what it might do to children or pets.

The final tally was ~6,000 now. I believe it. It's the first protest I've ever been involved in.

I have a problem with Monsanto's purchasing of the US Government, the Supreme Court upholding their patents that never should have been issued, and the complete disregard for scientific review.
I also have a problem with not labeling GMO products.
Beyond all of that, modifying plants for thins like being Round-Up resistant is insane, and how about 75% of sci-fi books start. Modifying for extra nutrition, higher-yield, etc using the same family's DNA might be okay (like the rice that was developed), at least they're actually testing before releasing (selling) out into the wild.

I'm with you on the first 2 points. On the 3rd point, you might want to read this.
