Let's just say you couldn't live in the US. Where would you live?
I think the Isle of Man sounds good.

Somewhere in southeast Asia. Or maybe Russia.
Anywhere I can disappear into some sort of wilderness and not be bothered.
So Mongolia.
Another vote for NZ. I actually contacted the Consul here in Atlanta after Bush 2 was re-elected, but by their points system, I'm too old (even back then).
Still digging Japan..but man, that language is TOUGH (I've tried).
Toss up between Japan and Australia. In Japan, folks are extremely aware of each other and their environment. And having visited there a few times while in the Navy, I know that the country is as varied and as small as California. Unfortunately, I don't speak Japanese.
In Australia, they have some very awesome people, places, and cars. Unfortunately, I don't speak Australian. (Sorry, feeble joke)
Japan....earthquakes and tsunamis.
Australia....fires and floods.
Australia's a lot more uptight in reality than you might think from the reputation. I'd have to give NZ a look, but I'd probably head back north of the border again to Canada.

I wouldn't mind living in France. I like the culture of food and how passionate they are about preserving Frenchness, which I suppose I would be ruining by being another damn refugee.

I've lived there... not much fun.
It gets pretty old pretty quickly.
Japan?
My wife is Korean, though, and they have good roads too. I know where better ones are, but for some reason google maps is being stupid? you can see evidence of that in that pic... They have easily avoidable speed cameras, and surprizingly easy traffic
Ninja Edit: It works on satalite view, for some reason... Here's another korean road very close to that first one.
The car culture may not be the same as Japan, but the roads aren't lacking and I have a translator
Been to the Bahamas a few times, and really loved the laid back island lifestyle. Im sure one or more of the island-dwellers will be here soon to correct me soon.

Not a bad choice. I'd prefer the Conch Republic
Haven't done a ton of research, but Australia is great if you can afford it. I LOVE the social timbre of Canada and lived a fair amount of my life there, but can't handle the tax structure and horrifically terrible socialized socialized healthcare setup.
Many of the European countries trip my trigger, but given our economy I'd have to be a trillionaire just to rent a studio apartment.
Iceland? I've been there a few times and its really neat.

^^^Truth.
Conversely, I'd like to try living in the 'States. Or Japan.

Cost of living is something that you'd get used to, but the surveillance society really started getting on my nerves after a while. It's all in the name of the greater good obviously[1] but writing down my bike's license plate when I'm leaving the country to visit my mum? Seriously?
In Europe I'd probably choose France for the quality of life. My wife's got some friends in Brazil so we might check that out at some point, too.
