If it is truly something that makes you a much happier person, meets all the financial and medical insurance needs, and doesn't monopolize your life to the point of being an absentee father it is worthy of a serious conversation with the Duchess of understeer about the possibility of making it work. What are the specific reasons she is against the job? It may be possible for it to meet both your personal needs and those of your family.

The reasoning for me taking a Service job was that I could have benefits for The Duchess of Understeer and Princess of Understeer, as well as me not traveling anymore. I'm gonna be honest and say I did not apply at Jaguar to begin with. I only tried the local Porsche dealer who is under the same umbrella as the Jag dealer. Management had passed my resume around and it eventually stopped here. It is partially my fault for not doing as much research as I should have about the brand. All I really took in when I first started was "The F Type is a cool car, X Types are a steaming pile, and the whole brand has that nifty rise up shifter."

I think, for now, I need to sweat it out over here at Jaguar. I think it'd be in the best interest of the family that I be close to home, with benefits and just wait to see if anything opens up at a different brand. I'd still have the opportunity to go racing. It's going to be with The Duchess in her Formula Ford. I think if I took the job with the Porsche Team, I'd be gone too much and would miss out with the family and wouldn't be able to go to the track as a family.

I had a good run in racing. Now it's time to be an adult and do what is best for my family.

Well it sound to me like you have morphed into responsible adulthood. Personally I think it's about time you regale us with the adventures of Nitrous Fogger Jr., since you are "retired" from racing (I think that was your thread back in the day, correct me if I'm wrong). Write a book about that and you may be able to retire off the profits.

Haha! I still think of prior incidents with that stupid poo poo head. Last I heard, he is installing dry wall. So much for him and his pro race team managing efforts...

From what I heard, after I left, he had tried going to the Boss Man, telling him they needed to renegotiate his contract so he can get more money, since he did such a great job (ran all the customer renters away, put the Boss Man in the hospital after that vicious crash at Road Atlanta). Boss Man told him to take a hike.

Last time I saw Nitrous Fogger Jr. was at a local SCCA School Day, where he had been taking care of another TA2 car for a guy who was trying to get his license. I was prepping a IMSA GTD Porsche 991 and happened to drive past him in the paddock. I saw his smile turn into instant red face as I drove by. I might have accidently blipped the throttle when I saw him. I saw his car on track, with a massive misfire, all weekend. Since then, I saw he posted on a local Facebook group about selling race parts. I kinda Facebooked stalked him, saw posts about how he was blackout drunk at the Cowboys game and hanging drywall was going good.

So anywho, if anyone wants a refresher on the Legacy of Nitrous Fogger Jr, I'll be more than happy to give a reminder... haha.

You're doing the right thing.

I don't know much (anything) about the dynamics of a pro race team, but maintain the relationship with the team and offer a little help when it works out for you. Then maybe in a few years you may be in a better position to jump back into the race business and they will be ready to accept you back with open arms.
