I figured someone here would know who it was. They list Blue Ridge in the ad, and there can't be many shops in Blue Ridge doing that stuff.

EDIT: I really want to buy that Jeep and go to the next local Jeep club trail ride.

I posted the link to their site on page 1, I have been following them fairly closely.

lol, there are no flatfender guys in the local club. Hell, there aren't many 2 doors in the local club. There ARE a lot of LED light bars in the local club though.

I'm not a Jeep guy, but if I were in the market for one I'd buy a Mitsubishi one, just because it would berkeley with Jeep guys minds, and they're bad ass. The diesel ones are really cool.

ok, of all those options so far, which one do you want to have to find a part for while in the middle of a trip?  right.  fuel injected Wrangler, TJ or newer, with a manual trans.

or lifted Cutty.

So you're suggesting a Tacoma TRD, as no parts will be needed (other than a frame, which you're not doing in the middle of a trip)

Stay away from full sized rigs for offroading. Too big and cumbersome on tight trails, and too heavy to pull out when you get stuck. If you want a jeep get a jeep. Taking the top off is great. I liked folding the windshield down on mine also when on the trail because it gets you nice breezes, but I built a full cage to keep the tree branches off my face. I suggest driving the different generations to see which one suits you. For me the goldilocks jeep is the late yj with 4.0. It had fuel injection, overdrive, and better power steering than earlier ones, but still felt like an old truck in a small package, and I mean that in a good way. The only other vehicle in the group I ran with that I thought I may enjoy as much was a samurai, but I would still go jeep.

I'm derailing my own thread, but a buddy of mine just bought this car. I got to see it finally this past weekend. It is beyond cool!

Having grown up with Nissan Patrols -they are amazing, and very underrated in the world, outside of ME/Africa/Australia.

The current Armada (wish Nissan gave it the proper Patrol name), is the first one here to be imported legally. Sadly they saddled it with the Armada name  and all the garbage and terrible quality the previous one is associated with.

Current Armada (Patrol really) -Nissan is giving them away, and aside from the GT-R, is the only USDM Nissan worth buying. Its a worthy competitor to my overpriced 200 LC

Duh

If I could find one of these in budget, I'd go this route, even though it doesn't offer open top options. My wife loves these!

My wife, unlike yours, hates them :(

I'm late but Isuzu rodeo! I prefer the early 90s model with the GM 3.1 for simplicity. Mine was a 3.1/5 speed xlt. Factory tire size was 31x10.50 so I didn't even have to lift it for a good tire. Rear locker cost me about 600 bucks but it had factory 4.30 gearing and went everywhere I wanted unless I High centered it.

you do not want a 3.8, 3.6 is the better engine.

I could flip that all day long for a 4-5K profit here in Denver. Good thing it it looks like it was never wheeled hard. Looks like a mail cruiser. Rubicon is good from a wheeling stand point but more than you would need. You could do worse than that for 13K.

I see that the 3.8 was introduced in 2012. Anything that 'new' appears to be out of my budget.

Nothing but love for the Jeep and that's what I would do. That said, Florida is hot and muggy, another option is an FJ Cruiser so you can keep the A/C cranked up. You can always take the doors off if you want.

Haha. The Denver SUV market is stupid priced. I bought my jeep in TX because of it.

Seriously though. I bet the guy bought it and didn't like it. It's an acquired taste. He has some solid mods on there but I'm sure he didn't do them. I'm betting he bought it that way. Bumpers and Winch are $1K new. Same with the Fox Shocks. Those run about $750. The wheels and tires although I don't like them, are about 2K. The 3.8 is not the strongest but in Florida, it's not as bad as here in Denver. The 2 things to look at is take it for a good highway drive and find some bumps. Make sure there is no death wobble. If you care, make sure the top is semi water proof. Looks like that may be an issue. Crawl under it and make sure nothing is bashed. Normal spots you's see dirt build up looks clean in the pics though.
