Am I allowed another? Datsun 280ZX. Yes, the most hated Z-car of all. I love it, love the Japanese techno-tastic early 80s interior, love the styling, love straight sixes, love T-tops, love all of it. Preferably a turbo, but I'm not too picky. I will own one some day.
I really want a Volvo 780 coupe. Would make a great DD but tweak the turbo setup a bit for a little extra oomph, and there are suspension upgrades out there...
Yes, I know, they're awful, but I'd really, really like to own this car.

It's fun to read about what people would be ashamed to show off but would love to own! I'm guessing a few of these outliers have personal history.

Why are they awful? I have heard from a lot of people that they are the best driving of the TRs and they have a great driving position.
In reply to 93EXCivic:
Arguably the worst period of British build quality, malaise era smog controls.

The T tops are friggin' miserable, it makes the unibody floppy and they leak like mad. But I'd rock a slicktop with a turbo motor transplant in a second. It was heavier than its predecessor but having driven both and owned a 280Z the ZX is a better driver. I know that's blasphemy!
I dig conversion vans and class B motorhomes. Comfy road trip vehicles, can tow your race car etc.
If I won the lottery, I'd take a newer one, make it a dually diesel and love life.

TR7's are actually pretty good driving cars. The wacky engine design complete with heads that warp in a high wind (at one time you could even get reinforcement braces for them!) combined with iffy head bolts are the source of most of their bad press.
Actually the later Azteks aren't bad looking in a strange sort of way. I saw a sticker that said 'if it's good enough for Heisenberg it's good enough for me' on the back of an Aztek.
