What's your current band obsession?

Thanks to Pandora I have been hearing bands I have never known about. I usually get stuck on a certain band for a while until I find something else that attracts my interest.

My current band obsession is the indie pop duo Matt & Kim. You probably have heard their song "Daylight" on various commercials.

Bought a few Bombastic meatbats cd's last week.

A little different from the above submissions but, especially after seeing them live, I've been really into The Acacia Strain.
Probably not the best for putting me in a good mood to get through a E36 M3 work day, but there's something liberating about ridiculously blunt lyrics coupled with ridiculously heavy metal.
When I'm not listening to them or to XM, I listen to Coutning Crows or Johnny Cash on the ipod. lol

Witchcraft. Swedish doom metal. I heard their single "Deconstruction" on Sirius and liked it so I bought the album "Legend".

I like metal a lot but I never really ventured into doom metal. I like the downtuned instruments, clean vocals and slower tempo.

I'd like to explore the genre further but who else can I check out? Pentagram? Candlemass?

Pre-Red Medicine Fugazi has been in regular rotation for me lately. Lots of other random stuff.

That would be Pallbearer. Their epic doom 5 track release was my favorite of last year. Never get tired of listening to them.

Well Witchcraft started as a Pentagram tribute band so that's a good start. I will say I don't think Legend is all that doom. It's pretty much a straight rock record heavy on the sabbath riffs. If you want to go down the doom path. Pentagram, Trouble, Candlemass, Cathedral, Electric Wizard, Sleep, St. Vitus, The Obsessed, Pagan Alter and of course Black Sabbath are pretty much the standards. I lean toward the more rocking side of doom. here are a couple of bands you might like if you dig Witchcraft

If I have obsessions, they don't include bands. I like hearing the lesser-played cuts from the classic rock genre, and have been enjoying listening to classical music on NPR of late.

I recently saw Maureen McGovern in concert, accompanied by the renowned Richmond Symphony. That was a fun show. No mosh pit though.
