I've been listening to a lot of DC go-go and early British Stiff Records era early new wave and punk.

I listen to a lot of music (mostly metal), and I get hooked on something new every day.

Last night, I found myself playing my bass along to some stuff on my iPod, and on comes a Ratt song (Lay It Down). So, I played through it and felt a little sleazy, but I love 80's metal, so whatever. So then I played another (Body Talk). At that point I felt a little sleazy and wanted to grow a mullet like the dude in my avatar. Not really an obsession, more like an infection or STD, LOL

Today, it was Vektor's newer one Outer Isolation. There is something about that band that makes me feel unsettled, like I just witnessed the apocalypse. Masterfully executed Technical Thrash.

And I agree with MA$$hole on Pallbearer. I have an unhealthy obsession with their debut album.

I believe there are two metal bands name Legend, actually. My friend has some of the other Legend on his ipod, I have been unable to find anything from them really, but they definitely sound different from this:

I would call them a doom or death metal band for sure (not the Legend from the 80s, the other one.)

In reply to corytate: I was talking about the album Legend by Witchcraft but the link you posted of the NWOBHM band Legend is pretty killer

DEVO. I've been working backwards into their earlier pre-contract days. The line between DEVO and punk blurs even more.

Sometimes stuff is popular because it is good.

All That Remains... and Macklemore. If you're into hip-hop/rap, seriously give The Heist a listen. It's a killer album.

Big Wreck! They re-banded and just released another album. Love, love, love Ian Thornley - pipes like Chris Cornell's, and a virtuoso guitar player (Berklee grad).

I just saw this on another site for the first time. I was already familiar with Prehistoric Dog (the medieval cosplay one).

I gotta say--they do stoner metal well.

MA$$Hole and I saw these guys on Saturday night with Pilgrim at a local burrito place called No Problemo (which RULES, btw) and now I'm obsessed. It's been a long time since I've gone and seen a band and been blown away. These guys were amazing. We both bought the LP and the CD immediately after they got off the stage.

And the singer does have a very Ozzy-esque tonality and delivery, but looks nothing like him. He kinda looks like a younger Will Ferrell with no hair. The voice definitely doesn't match the dude.

What's even more impressive is that Magic Circle was made from member of various hardcore bands. Rival Mob in particular. Their self titled release will be a force to reckon with this year as far as doom goes.

Yeah, I know Rival Mob. They are on Revelation Records a label that has released records for my old band and and a lot of my friends/bandmates bands.
