Absolutely not. When my friends start with the "Clapton is god" crap, I tell them I don't believe in god, either.
For a long time growing up, the solos in Metallica's One were my favorite.
Also like the solo in Sweet Child O' Mine.

Agreed his playing style is so awesome.
How about most under rated guitarists? I've been a Kim Mitchell fan for well over 30 years.
Solo at 3:30. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnVO23zoU4Q

Yep. Every once in awhile I'll get on a Dire Straights kick and try playing without a pick. It's hard.
Django, yeah, with half as many fingers too.
I always liked Rude Mood AL DiMeola can rally play too, Race with the Devil is a bit busy, but he sure is fast. Like Santana on 78 speed.
It's not the most technical per say but the Boys are Back in Town has a killer dual guitar line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQo1HIcSVtg

Me too. Saw Max Webster at my High school in 76. Kim is very much an underrated guitarist.
Now that we're talking about underated players I can't not mention Rory Gallagher. Can't post a link right now from the phone but live recordings from his tour of Ireland in 1974 are epic.
"Underrated?" I'll bite. Having read tons of Guitar Player mag reviews back in the day and being pissed off with their "top" lists.
Neil Shon, and Elliot Easton immediately come to mind. If you can't/won't make a note "sing" then WTF are you doing?

So did I - I think it was an 11th Grade school dance.

Elliot Easton can play pretty much anything, I think. Helluva nice guy, too.
This Jeff Martin! Skip the first 2 minutes.
