Can I get a brand new GTI for ten grand yet?
Seriously, though, I have heard of some good deals, but not seen any in person (or in internet) yet.

Haha! Yeah, the way some people carry on about this, you'd think you could get the cars for free. I really don't think it's going to have much of an impact. VW will pay a few billion dollar slap-on-the-wrist fine, and business will resume as usual. Consumers have an extremely short memory. If things get really bad though, VW can always change their name.

Like new from the dealer's lot? They have been forced to not sell new cars.
As for the used ones- I bet that many owners are looking to profit from their cars.

Pretty much. My parents have a 2010 TDI Jetta. They are only thinking of selling it before the repairs start getting expensive.

I'd be surprised if we see any, or at least there will be very few sold by people that have the money to take a moral stand. Most people will either get the new emissions system because the car is already a sunk cost or they won't and the new system will go in when the car starts having issues and the owner is ready to sell. Americans are holding onto their cars for longer than pre-recession periods of time still.
I'm not quite sure who planted this idea in the medias head.

They can't sell gas cars either? I don't think that's what's happening.

I am pretty sure that VW is still selling gasoline powered cars.
In reply to HappyAndy:
He did, but I guess I don't understand why anyone would expect the gas engine cars to take a dump. So I thought he meant diesel.

I would expect new gasoline VWs to take a dump because VW, and more importantly, their dealers, are hurting for revenue. They've essentially lost 20% of their total sales volume.
I was thinking huge discounts on gas cars would help move some metal and keep the cash flowing, but it appears I was wrong about that.
I just saw an article stating a bunch of the new 2015-2016 gasoline powered cars are being recalled because the cam lobes shear off...

So, diesel cars illegal to sell, gasoline cars potentially dangerous to drive. It seems like there will be some sort of impact from all this bad news pretty soon...
Ahh, here they are

I'm waiting for the fix to cripple them... then the owners get pissed and sell them. Then I pick it up, slightly improve it and make it driveable.

Only partially true.
If you're trying to buy one yes... hard to find a deal.
If you currently own an affected used TDI and are trying to buy a new car and normally trade in yours??? you're getting hosed. Wholesale pricing and trade-in offers on used TDI's are waaaaaaaay down.
They're just not turning around and reselling them waaaaaaaay down.
There are some gas models that can't be sold too. I think they were primarily Tiguans and Jettas. GTIs are unaffected.
Just looked at dealer in Houston that is offering $1500 additional on trade in for TDIs and selling gas 16 Jetta 1.4 S models for $14K.

I tried to buy a BMW and trade in my Jetta...they refused to even consider taking the car in on trade. I am stuck with it for a while..
